my guess as to why he didn't double his vocals (that's what its called btw) on this album is cus it seems he was going for a sound where he sounds almost like vocals being sampled. Dance music has long been full of vocal sampling and stretching/compressing vocal samples. U can hear on a lot of these songs drake's voice has been slightly sped up or slowed down. I know Drake and his producer/engineer team have the time and resources to just re-record that s*** if the first take wasn't in time, like I doubt the time stretching is out of necessity. I'm pretty sure it's a creative choice. Drake wants his voice to sound like a sample that has been manipulated.
and traditionally, the vocals that dance producers sample aren't doubled, so if he wants to stick to his vision it makes sense that he wouldn't double his s***.
Also, in rap doubling has become pretty uncommon. people realized rappers usually sound better when ur listening to just one well mixed vocal take
100% absolutely
I was just wondering why not layer atleast one or two tracks that seem like complete songs and not baiting for a remix
For example Overdrive has a little bit of this, he could've done more
Guy on Down Hill hook has stacked vocals even
I guarantee that majority of the people saying “why didn’t he get Kaytranada” didn’t even listen to the EP he dropped with IDK this year
what bugs me most is that their reasoning seems to be along the lines of "drake should have gotten a real house producer like kaytranada" and they don't even understand how disrespectful that is to black coffee

This. I think a lot of them don’t even realize Black Coffees involvement and/or don’t even know who he is

Also disrespectful to Carnage

Need a sweaty club dance video for Massive

i can't rank drake's discography anymore. f*** it. it's all quality
i am surprised he categorizes this with his studio albums and not a tape tho. definitely his most lowkey. could be a cool turn he's taking in his career and toning it down a bit

yes it is. and all the other producers who worked on the album as well
I dont even have to post obscure house music go listen to pop artists like disclosure or kaytranada
F*** even calvin harriss attempts at it
The thing is that they're music is fun to dance to which should be the appeal
This music doesnt even make me want to dance at the club bar one or two songs which is why its not resonating with me
I listen to the exact same artists and I dont tell people that I listen to a lot of house music
I’m coming around to this album sorta. This isn’t what I expected nor wanted from Drake. But I love that he’s switching it up. Top songs for me rn are:
Texts Go Green
Sticky
Downhill
The perfect start to the summer, man, this s*** is a doozy
This s*** a twist in the movie, but don't jump to conclusions
You boys are gettin' into your feelings on me
You should embrace it, this could be one of our realest moments
Like even Summer Games is a better song than a lot of the cuts on this joint
Summer Games a classic
Phil Collins type vibes
y’all have the f***ing music taste of a lima bean.. WHAT?!
That’s what people are getting wrong. No one is comparing this to actual house music or saying that this is the best house music ever made.
It’s great for a DRAKE house album. It’s Drake bringing the house genre into HIS sonic world.
That’s like someone saying Beautiful Thugger Girls is trash because it doesn’t compare to the best country music ever made
I know a lot of y’all aren’t actually reading what I’m saying cause that wasn’t even my main point lol
You called it lazy just cause you personally don't like the production lol. How is the song lazy ?
Basically the beat sounds so cheap. It drums do sound like they were a preset in a program. The try try try part isn’t mixed well at all and it just sounds horrible. It’s just not a good song period. A lot of y’all are saying this is the best song on the album and not Texts Go Green or Sticky is CRAZY to me
Someone needs to mix that second half of Calling My Name into “Pieces” by AVAION, or vice versa (specifically the part that starts at 1:05)
Would go so crazy at a club/party

Lmao they do this everytime Drake puts his own twist on a genre

OverDrive the best one
Fanta gave care package a 3, we off him
he was wrong there but I don’t think it deserves a not good but he was right a lot of the time

Mic.com (never heard of them but the website seems cool) calling it the best album Drake has ever made while also sorta s***ting on his entire career lol
