You really camped out in an album thread you dislike for almost a week now
The last lines of that song combined with the Virgil quote are really poignant:
“When everything is put to rest
And everybody takes a breath
And everyone gets addressed
It’s you alone with your regrets
All that pumping up your chest
All that talk about the best
You know how sticky it gets”
But some people are saying he’s not saying anything interesting on this album
If Kendrick said those same exact lines at the end of a song/album everyone would lose their minds about it and call it some conceptual masterpiece
Legit saw people on Twitter when this dropped saying Drizzy doesn’t have a “great/good pen”
Literally been through over 10 years of albums, mixtapes and features but people say this s***.

Camped out? Nah I swing by from time to time for a laugh

I think most rap fans genuinely don’t understand what good songwriting is and think that “having a good pen” only extends as far as how many crazy double entendres and punchlines a rapper can come up with.
Drake flexed his songwriting ability on this entire project
No retirement in sight since that 500+ mil deal
Drake's deal is most likely more about UMG retaining the rights to his masters (So Far Gone-Scorpion) for another 10 years than it is about his future projects lol.
People are probably wondering why Drake didn't go independent. Well, even if his masters are worth say $500M, he owns them and then what? Yeah, he makes more money off his music but AT MOST, he averages about $20-25M from his back catalog per year. Instead of that, he leaves it to UMG to own the rights to his back catalog for another 10 years (probably 2019-2029) and the price tag he puts on that is $600M.
UMG knows there's 0 chance they make that money back in 10 years but the deal is less about them profiting and more akin to an NBA Super Max deal than anything else. It's your franchise rewarding you for years of loyalty and performance, regardless of how you perform for the remaining years of your contract. That's why they can only giving a deal like this to someone like Drake (who has always been signed to them and who they've always had a very fruitful relationship with).
It's very likely that by the end of the decade, Drake takes back the rights to the masters of his catalog and does whatever he wants to do with them.
All in all, Drake is making more money from music now than he ever has before.
Falling back has fully clicked. The vocals in the beginning not even annoying anymore
Only thing on the album that can be annoying depending on my mood is the bed squeaks on Currents
Not sure if it ever will for me tbh.
As much as I love this album that’s the only one I think is legitimately bad
Camped out? Nah I swing by from time to time for a laugh
What’s funny about amazing music other than individuals like yourself struggling to comprehend it?

The posts stans make kill me, and that doesn't just go for this thread
You know how I know the hate is cap
Niggas here and on twitter/social media still feel the need to explain themselves when it comes to their thoughts on this album almost a week later
If it was really disposable trash the memes would’ve ran their course by now and there would be no real discourse to be had
