Drake haters: we want drake to experiment
Also drake haters: ha flop!
oooOOOhhhHHHH baaaaaaaBBBYYYYYYYYYYYYY
the second oooh baby that is mixed with the background vocals is probably the peak of the album for me.
If The Blueprint dropped in 2022:
“Mid”
“Heart of The City and Song Cry is good but the rest is nothing special”
“Hov flow on here is boring, he not trying hard enough”
“This album is trash, I was expecting more s*** like I just wanna love you wtf is this soulful s***, sound like my grandma music”
6/10 on Pitchfork… “Jay-Z spits more of the same about being on the throne”
Fantano “Jay-Z really isn’t doing anything special here, feeling a light to strong 3 on this one”
Some of the most revered albums in music history were dismissed and torn apart by critics when they dropped lol.

My fav example of this is Here My Dear

Honestly Nevermind
It’s good you gave it another chance unlike a lot of people who will miss out cause they too prideful to admit they were wrong. Why were you dismissive of it out of curiosity?
For some reason I was just anticipating a rap heavy album just based off recent features—he was coming bar heavy. Got all the way to Sticky and I wasn’t disappointed I was just a bit thrown by the vibe of the album and the sound he was going for. Then of course social media going crazy with mostly negative s*** on Twitter. Honestly when I came back in This thread I saw a bunch of praise and appreciation and how amazing everyone thought the album was with really just a few haters sprinkled in which is expected. Man I’m glad I did that bc this album is really just a great and interesting experience if you just relax and don’t have any expectations.
It’s how you’ve been trained man it’s not all your fault.
Absolutely. When you box yourself into certain genres or have certain expectations for an artist you can miss out. I try not to be that way but sometimes I catch myself slipping and letting social media or outside influences persuade.

Not exactly. I love HN. Been bumping multiple times daily since release. I don’t care what Drake or any artists sells when it comes to my enjoyment of the music.
But Drake Stans constantly set some arbitrary sales thresholds and clown anyone that enjoys albums that don’t reach them.
This is a taste of their own medicine.

check total certified units
396m for drake
I think discounting just how much was sold before sale certifications is disingenuous

I don't think it discounts them? how do Beatles have 289m then
i think it's more that with streaming it's easier to get certified units since a stream of One Dance counts towards both single sales + album sales at once
fairly sure One Dance + Too Good + Hotline Bling alone probably count for at least 50m certified units just them 3
