comparing streaming to pre streaming era is like people who say x nba player wouldn’t survive in x era lol
Ok?
Don’t compare them. He would do numbers any era
Of course he was, no one said he wasn’t.
But he also didn’t have a single Diamond song prior to streaming, and by the end of this decade he’ll most likely have like 12 minimum
You dumb? You know how long it takes a track to go diamond lol
Exactly, which is why I said it’s silly to act like he’s one of the artists who is only selling well because of streaming.
But at the same time, all of these records and accolades and Diamond songs he’s acquiring have all been post-streaming, so he’s definitely benefited heavily from it
You think the numbers would just magically stop if there wasn’t streaming?
Two things can be true at the same time. Drake would’ve definitely been vastly more successful than his competitors even if it wasn’t the streaming era. He just has that factor to him.
At the same time before streaming, songs which weren’t released as singles had no chance of going platinum. Ye, Wayne and especially Hov would have totally different numbers for their singles if streaming was there at that time. We are just seeing songs like I Wonder go platinum. The dominance on the charts during that time would’ve been even crazier if streaming was already a thing.
You dumb? You know how long it takes a track to go diamond lol
Depends on the song, but in the early 2010s multiple tracks went Diamond in 3-5 years. God’s Plan even went Diamond in less than 2 years.
From 2009-2019 Drake had a total of zero Diamond songs.
Streaming definitely heavily contributed to a larger number of songs going Diamond quicker in the streaming era (for instance, Post Malone having 8 in six years)
You think the numbers would just magically stop if there wasn’t streaming?
Not at all, but at a certain point the sales would only be marginally increasing. It’s why there’s so many huge singles from the 80s/90s/00s that all never came close to being Diamond
Did a quick search and found this.
!https://youtu.be/x2WmUCgQWe4?si=DOdMT_t0_hK9GtULBut if I think he said it in this same interview that Drake was his best writer
You think? Post the clip of him saying it.
Y'all just spreading false information
Opinions on Drake’s newer music aside
Hold On We’re Going Home deserves to be nearly diamond
Yung orphan for a reason
Dumbass troll
I’m just joking and talking from the perspective of a Drake hater. Drakes a legend. I’m a YM Stan.
But I see I touched a nerve. Relax. It’s not that serious Stanley 🤣🤣🤣

His best pop song by far imo masterpiece
They are going to ignore this.
The thing about the argument everyone forgets is that buying music is still an option in 2023. But if streaming and buying both an option, 95%+ will pick streaming.
Thats why it never makes sense when people say "Imagine if (X artist) had streaming in his era". Like if they had streaming back then no one would buy their music so they'd lose pure sales. They wouldn't have pure sales and streams
I want him to write for others more while on this break! To keep sharp sonically too
What did he write?
A lot of concepts that didn’t get released but QM was working with a bunch of artist in the industry

Until you can show a reference track or a song credit he did for push ur just yapping tbh
