I was with you until you started talking about Drake won off the music

I love both artist definitely my top 2 of the last 15 years and it has flipped between them often so I have no reason to hate on either one and I gotta say Kendrick kicked Drake’s ass bro

This nigga dissed him with every type of diss record imaginable and they all hard lol.

First he hit him with the iconic feature verse diss with Like That (really a page out of Drake playbook with Stay Schemin and No Shopping) s*** will literally be played forever

Then he hit him with a nice well rounded diss with Euphoria that has all the elements of a great diss (great bars, great production, great performance and charisma, confrontational, high level disrespect, humor, and even commercial appeal)

Then he hit em with 6:16 in LA which was smooth and less confrontational but more lyrically dense over a classic Al Green sample, basically told Drake he has a mole and his people ain’t loyal and he needs to tread lightly

Then he drops MTG which completely assassinated this niggas character regardless of what’s true or not. We all know in politics perception is reality and it’s the same with rap beef.

Finally he completely humiliates this nigga by dropping a number 1 hit radio/club banger that completely calls him out on being a pedo, has people adopting FAN into their slang, and has people chanting OVHOE lol

Drake kept it somewhat competitive throughout with his records but Kendrick dog walked this nigga man

I hear what you’re saying and genuinely appreciate you stating your thoughts clearly and cohesively and not replying with some generic, useless reply lol.

I’m biased, i know. I know Kendrick is super talented and I respect him, he’s just never been my cup of tea. Having said that… imo:

Like That was good for shock value. It was entirely unexpected, but that wears off pretty quickly.

Euphoria was just okay to me. Not bad by any means, it just didn’t really wow me. He got a lot of good bars off and I respect his pen on this track.

6:16 was fire imo. Kendricks best of the whole beef. I enjoyed this one.

MTG didn’t land with me at all. Like I se what he was going for and it was wel executed. But as I’ve said in other posts, everything dot said to assassinate drakes character could be applied to 90% of other rappers (including future and The Weeknd who cliqued up with dot in this whole thing lmao). The disgusted thing was shocking tho, but given how the situation played itself out, i don’t really think that’s true.

Not Like Us is a banger. I’ve lived in Cali my whole life lol. It’s has all the makings of a west coast anthem. I’ll absolutely give credit where it’s due, but his pen was weak AF at points on this track. The “OV-ho” and “69 god” sound like amateur rapping to me. That s*** was cringe asl, but the a minor bar was hard af tho lol.

The point is, neither you or myself can speak objectively about this. Getting that family friends pov on all of this has been the closest thing to an unbiased opinion I’ve gotten.

If you couldn’t surmise that from my post, then idk what to tell you, unless you’re deliberately being dense.

A nigga that's tuned in that thought Drake would win and now thinks Kendrick did, is a far more valuable point of reference than an uninformed nigga. If you can't understand that you're the one denser than a black hole

i don’t think being unbiased is a super high watermark of who took home the W here. i’m actually less likely to trust that person’s opinion bc they sound deeply out of touch w what’s going on in the modern scene tbh

drake was my #1 artist last year and has been in multiple other years. one of my favorites oat. and i think he held his own in this but even i can admit he ultimately got walked by kendrick

So numbers-wise, across their careers, Kendrick is seeing Drake?

How are we ignoring Kendrick stepping on his own releases because they weren't hitting the mark with people?! He dropped 4 diss tracks in 4 days because none of them were getting the job done and finally stopped when one of them became a hit but according to y'all, those were flawlessly-timed moves

Bla bla bla 2+2=22 and here's my reasoning/proof bla bla bla

Wtf is wrong with u, do you hear yourself what u say?

  • Nah he gonna make a smash hit with some more jabs for the next 2 years till Kenny jumps back out

I respect this opinion and also respect you openly being biased

I appreciate you for not just calling me a Kendrick d*** rider to invalidate my opinion lol

Also I totally agree that most rappers are guilty of the things being accused on MTG including being dead beats and pedos lmao. Thats 100% facts. I fw MTG because of Kendrick’s surgical execution, I could really care less about him trying to take the moral high ground on Drake.

Personally I didn’t fw story of addidon because I felt like it was all tea with simple raps but MTG is the exact opposite imo. The story telling, execution, different cadences, and speaking from different perspectives are all classic Kendrick. S*** is like the diss equivalent of a song like Fear.

Also he’s obviously teasing Drake with the ovhoe and FAN 69God stuff, it’s not meant to be lyrically impressive, they are just catchy and funny chants, it’s why the song is a hit lol. I could see it not being catchy to someone who is biased towards Drake and against Kendrick though

Drake lost and he quit first lmao idk how people can even argue about it at this point.

Bro literally said "you can drop 100 tracks I'll see ya later" and people really think he's about to continue.

Bro literally said "I don't want to diss you anymore" WORD FOR WORD, and people think he's about to continue.

Bro literally said "Summer Vibes up next" and people STILL THINK HE'S ABOUT TO CONTINUE

It's over lol. Our boy lost and anyone denying it is fanboying. This is basically parallel to what happened to Meek Mill when Drake killed him to be honest lol. The fact that two of Kendrick's diss tracks are outperforming Drake's is just salt in the wound.

-Drake f***ed up with the Push Ups release. Should've been a soundcloud or youtube or even an IG drop.

-Drake f***ed up running his mouth to Ak as much as he did

-Drake f***ed up hyping up, and letting people get on Twitter (and even get on here) and hype up his so called "red button"

-Drake f***ed up when Family Matters got stepped on by meet the grahams and he didn't have another response ready, especially when meet the grahams was far more scathing and brutal than anything Drake did in Family Matters.

And then lets talk about the "red button". Family Matters being his nuke track is crazy when he really didn't say anything crazy about the other guys involved in the beef, and while he exposed Kendrick as an alleged woman beater, he didn't expand on that s*** enough. Falls flat when the opposition drops a diss track with a f***ing concept attached to it

Like wtf? Nigga penned an entire letter to your son saying you aint s***, you're a s*** father with an identity crisis and that he can step in and be your kid's mentor in your place, told your Dad its his fault you're f***ed up like you are, told your mom that you should die, and basically tried to dismantle your character. The level of brutality Kendrick came with is what i expect when niggas are posting nuclear bombs and niggas getting slaughtered to hype up your diss track

What if the red button was a bluff all along? Lol

Bluffing is important in card games, but if the other dide goes through, it's a double edge sword

    Forsure man.
At the end of the day, we got to see the two greatest rappers of this era go at it and were entertained. I tried to just enjoy the experience for what it was, rather than cope or try to attack Kendrick fans lol. This was a moment in hip-hop history we got to witness and I’m grateful cause we got to listen to both rappers display their craft in real time.

Yeah okay I understand what you’re saying, that makes sense. Like I said, the execution of MTG was great, the actual content just didn’t land for me lol.

I appreciate you 🤞 I just wish there could be more discourse like this rather than throwing stones from all of the glass houses we live in lmao.

I’m curious to see where Drake goes from here tho… this is going to following him for a while, but he’s only getting older…

There's a reason why some of our favorite artists ever stay off the internet. When you wallow in Twitter/forum takes for an extended period of time as an artist, it starts affecting how you see the music. Between Kendrick and Pusha T, you can tell he's more worried about the "Twitter moments" than not.

Big Sean got mentioned and STILL released the song because he didn't get in his feelings about it. That takes a lot.

Lol this reminds me of a funny story, how Frank made his tumblr likes private

Frank uses tumblr to occasionally share his thoughts on current matters, and the hints/announcements.

It seems he liked a pic like this.

His fans posted it on reddit and started laughing, soon after, the "likes" section disappeared lol

    Lmao it’s crazy.

I genuinely feel like there are more people who hate Drake, than there are Kendrick or Drake fans combined. This beef really made them feel like it’s finally a safe space to vocalize their hatred, discontent, jealousy, or whatever other suppressed emotions they have lol.

Kendrick won the beef because he controlled public perception… that just is what it is, unfortunately.

If we’re ACTUALLY talking about the music, the lyrics, and the content, Drake won.

But when battling in an arena where there no clearly defined winners and losers, the subjectivity of public perception is THE most important variable in determining a winner.

With the sheer number of people who dislike Drake far outweighing the number of fans either rapper has, Drake was doomed from the start. No matter what moves he made, y’all were always gonna find a way to change the narrative or move the goalposts so that he was losing.

For Drake to get out of this he needs the biggest hit of his career to overshadow this.

Was out last night and legit wild seeing “certified pedophile” being said by the whole crowd. This way bigger than your girls tour line.

not a single DJ played a Drake record while i was out this weekend, every DJ played NLU and/or Euphoria

I fail you see how this is some of his “worst rapping”? I really liked the part you quoted. And before you say I’m biased, I also liked a lot of things that Kendrick said.

However, some of the worst lyricism I’ve ever heard is “OV-ho” and “69 god” lol. That’s some s*** that a local amateur rapper would say. Made me cringe.

69 god was one catchy part of a hit that still had plenty of great bars

If you genuinely like the bars I just quoted I guess we just have to agree to disagree, but to me they're extremely weak/corny despite trying to be serious

A family friend who is very loosely tapped into hip-hop, brought up this whole situation when we were hanging out, asking for clarity. He knows who the rappers are and had some semblance of what was going on… With no context, I played him all of the songs.

After finishing THP6 and I told him that was the last one, he was like, “Wow! Drake absolutely killed Kendrick in this beef.” He admitted that Kendrick made a banger in NLU, but speaking on the lyrics and content, Drake handily won… lol that’s coming from pretty much the only truly unbiased opinion I personally know. Anecdotal, yes, but it gets the point across.
