That’s crazy OP because I was just saying the other day that The ones that people (stans) debate that are classics are classics in the context of the time they were released. If someone who was born in a completely different era listened to Take Care/NWTS/IYRTITL, I don’t think they would really understand why they’re considered so
His classics albums are time-locked, not timeless. They’re classics because you remember that you graduated around that time, or you had a great vacation that year, or you went to the best party ever when it came out. Also, unlike the all time great albums his classics all have blatant weak songs or fillers, but that’s another story.
True classics are independent of time.
That’s what stands him apart from the Kanye’s and Hov’s
Hov for example at least has Blueprint and Reasonable Doubt which are timeless albums with timeless music. Even 50 has Get Rich. Someone born in 2005 could listen to GRODT and understand the greatness. Drake doesn’t have one of those, close on multiple occasions, but no.
he for sure has timeless songs, but albums no.

Sales has nothing to do with what I’m talking about. I’m talking from a pure music standpoint. We all know Drake has the biggest sales of all time

Kanye is an alien. So, I agree with you on that.

That said, Take Care, NWTS, and IYRTITL are definitely timeless and can be revisited. Hell, I'm not even a charts guy but Billboard already shows this to be true.

And while I agree that GRODT is a universal classic, I've had to defend that album from people calling it dated on this very forum.

I think Nothing Was The Same was the closest we got to a timeless album, but he hasn’t hit those highs since.

I've gone back to NWTS and More Life often. Some pretty great chunes and I frequently s*** on Drake. Can't even deny the quality of those projects.

I think those albums have timeless songs for sure but as complete albums, I don’t think so. A decent amount of Take Care sounds very dated already
