The song is defamation and UMG was promoting it to hurt Drake
If the judge concludes it’s not defamation then UMG pushing it won’t even matter
Correct. However if the judge can dismiss the claims relating to defamation. And Drake can continue to pursue the claims of artificial inflation / payola without the lense of defamation if he decides to go that route.
The judge was interested in hearing about this and asked would “any” artist be effected by “not like us” artificial inflation of streams of proven. And drakes lawyers argued yes. And the judge seemed interested in that motion
There is a scenario I believe where the case gets PARTIALLY dismissed where the judge deems defamation didn’t happen, and if Drake wants to continue the lawsuit he can pursue this angle. But it would have to be all about payola / that s*** from UMG
