UMG played themselves big time because Drake wouldn't have been able to sue them if they hadn't let their ego and pride determine how they interacted with him. It's very clear that Drake and UMG had issues brewing even before this Kendrick beef came in the picture because no one does a sudden 180° turn on their biggest star overnight.

Drake's legal team has already submitted pages upon pages of correspondence between him and UMG, where he asked to meet with them regarding the defamatory material on Not Like Us and how the massive push behind it was messing with his actual life and they told him to f*** off. He asked them to put out a statement as a label basically saying what they're saying now: that he isn't a pedophile and the allegations in the song are only meant to be taken as hyperbole and UMG told him to f*** off as well so good luck to them proving to a judge that they didn't have malicious intent.

UMG could have easily put out a statement clarifying that the things being said by both parties weren't meant to be taken as fact and covered their asses legally from both sides. If they'd done that and Drake still sued them, they'd at least have that to show the judge that they weren't being malicious and the judge would have dismissed this case months ago. They didn't because there was always a plan in place for who they were going to push viciously and who they were aiming to f*** over.

It's especially funny seeing them now trying to act like they've only ever worked in Drake's best interest, all the while behind the scenes daring him to sue them and taunting him saying the rap world would mock him if he sued them and so he better not do it. When Drake's lawyers made mention of it at first, it seemed like a reach but since then, UMG has threatened him publicly, telling him to be careful what he wishes for and using motions and legal briefings to m taunt and mock him — these are all things the judge is reading and picking up on btw.

How do you do all that and then tell the very person you claim to be protecting and working in service of to f*** off when they tell you that material you're massively pushing and promoting is harming their everyday life? Especially when it's material you claim you've always known is false? Moreover, how do you prove that to a judge who now has a long-enough history showing you have been dealing in bad faith with Drake months before he ever sued you?

This doesn't hold up because everything said in Taylor Made Freestyle before Drake's actual voice comes in isn't (meant to be taken as) Drake. He used the voice change, as well as rapped from the perspectives of 2Pac and then Snoop Dogg for that very reason.

You can't ignore that context and then say "well, Drake asked Kendrick to say he liked young girls!!!" and it's funny how y'all love to ignore the very next line after that about the Joe Budden Podcast saying that and so that means it's automatically true. You know, the same Joe Budden Podcast that has a disclaimer before the start of every episode that boldly states that nothing said on the podcast should be taken as fact.

If you and I are having a heated verbal argument and I dare you to kill me and you pull out a pistol, shoot me multiple times and I die, you're still a murderer. You can't claim "well, Judge, here's footage of the deceased asking me to murder him!" as a logical defense. It won't hold in a court of law.

The judge asked the questions she asked during the oral arguments to get the proper context of the entire run of events leading up to Not Like Us and after it. If you're gonna bring up other diss tracks, explain them within their full proper contexts.

    It held up dumbass

Another stupid thing to say, especially when Kendrick has performed the song everywhere and is STILL on a world tour right now calling Drake a pedophile every night. But yes, Drake totally should have said and done nothing and everybody could have moved on.

Defamation is a real thing and y'all are just mad UMG is about to find out there are consequences to their actions.

    THERE WASNT ANY CONSEQUENCES LMFAOOOO

Drake learned the wrong lessons from the Pusha beef. All he got from that experience is that he should be more aggressive and expose his opponent. Pusha did more than that.

This is why a lot of us realized he’s a dumb person who lacks critical thinking skills.
