ValentineOnly way Drake, an employee, would be privy to this information is if someone at executive level (Larry Jackson) was pocket watching Kendrick’s moves.
This is all alleged but it’s ironic that Larry did an interview on the “messy music industry” almost exactly a month to the date of this lawsuit dropping and in that interview, talked about leaving the label system right after he was asked about Drake and Kendrick

I would too, I'm honestly quite confused. I would say that it might be based on information that isn't public, but it would be really strange for Drake and his legal team to be aware of deals that haven't been published
there are a couple of other minor errors that don't affect the actual core allegation (e.g. saying kendrick is from Oakland) in the suit, so I guess this could just be another one of those

Companies will do deals very quietly or have agreements in place that will never reach the public sphere or will only reach the public once they want to sell us something. There's also strategy in not letting people know all your card/the info that you have on them. Don't know how prepared Drake was but I guess we'll see.
There's no in-between with outcomes for this. He'll either take a big L when all things are said and done, UMG will settle out of court or we end up with more info coming out about UMGs business practices. Regardless, anything coming out about UMG inflating or doing things to suppress numbers will open them up to more lawsuits from artists, at that point it's everybody vs everybody cos somewhere along the line advertisers working with UMG artists might start looking at their own dealings with UMG as well and want a check.
