    no

see this is the problem right there

    I’ll use your a***ogy

your homie, WARNED YOU MULTIPLE TIMES FOR YEARS (Kanye) that your friend is a dirty nigga who gone try to slide your shorty and you still went ahead and brought them around your home

Drake had every option and knowledge on his side to not accept any deals from UMG, especially, as you pointed out, because of his position in the game in 2015 when he signed that first deal and in 2020 as en even bigger dawg and still did so it’s sickening to fans like me who watched him parade that first deal and then the $400M deal act like he is some kind of victim

I think Drake’s ultimate goal was to own equity in UMG

Knowing how much leverage he had that if he went indie, it would break the industry.

So that’s probably why he got the 400M that he did but assuming he paid that back, he would either have to get a deal closer to Billion dollars or something equivalent to that

I am yet to see anything sensible from UMG regarding their role in pushing Not Like Us. All they say is just ''Drake is also allowed to release songs like Family Matters''. Cool, but that's not what the issue is. Without going into too much details as some things are better off not being addressed, I've rarely seen a label do what they did and work as hard for the success of a song as they did with this one. The figures they've spent are mind boggling - and therein lies the issue with the slanderous lies they've pushed about an Artist signed to them. Their contractual obligations for said Artist also has a thing or two to say.

Anyways, it will be an interesting thing to follow. UMG is obviously in a way better position, but, for future generations of artists, I hope David defeats Goliath.

'''Drake contends that the lawsuit “is not about the artist who created ‘Not Like Us.’” Compl. ¶ 8;see also id. ¶ 23. Nonsense. As discussed herein, though this lawsuit is baseless against any target,it is plainly about Lamar’s lyrics. Drake’s repeated insistence to the contrary does not make it so;instead, it betrays his recognition that his true battle was, and is, with Lamar.'''
