I continue to maintain that Drake and his people know deep down that there's more likely than not, nothing there regarding foul play with Not Like Us.

That doesn't mean though, that UMG doesn't participate in foul play in general, and may not want that stuff to come out.

As a result, we could ultimately end up with Drake and UMG settling out of court, and working towards a new deal.

But the Not Like Us stuff honestly sounds crazy. It doesn't even make sense, Nokia is one of the hottest songs in the country right now being pushed by the same boogeyman that apparently wanted him cooked. Huh?

There's just no real reasoning for why UMG would do this IMO

Unless you think UMG is the boogeyman, why isn't their support of NLU simply a matter of them getting behind a record that showed that it had some legs, something that they do with all of their hot songs from their A, and B level artists?

And I'm a Drake guy, maybe there is some malicious plot but that doesn't pass the smell test at all. They would have done the same to Push Ups and Family Matters too.

They're doing the same thing with Nokia now.

They did it with Back to Back.

The song is malicious in nature, but that's not UMG's domain to censor their talent. Record labels been putting out wild records for years. They get behind songs that have a level of momentum to them, and NLU clearly did. It really does sound like Drake and drake fans alike, just couldn't fathom a record against Drake simply being this big and hot.

I obviously don't know for sure,

But I genuinely think he sued them with the hopes of getting his money, money that they weren't trying to pony up w/during contract negotiations.

Part of why the NLU s*** is BS, is because Drake was in stagnant contract negotiations prior to NLU. He has been beefing w/UMG for over a decade. The beef, NLU, etc. just happened to fall into his lap as a means of getting what he feels was / is owed.

He was asking for more than 400Ms again and UMG said no.

This is my working theory at least. Which makes more sense than the boogeyman UMG conspiring against Drake with NLU immediately after they also put out Push Ups / Family Matters and now put out Nokia.

Umg pushed a song to threaten him showing how they could use their machine to completely destroy his reputation so he would fall back in line

Where do you draw the line between UMG pushing NLU to 'completely destroy his reputation so that he can fall back in line' vs UMG pushing NLU because it was a hot, viral record with legs?

The latter is FAR more likely, considering in the same time span as NLU, they also put out Push Ups, Family Matters, and post beef are still supporting him.

There's just no evidence at all other than conspiracy theories that point to them mischievously pushing NLU.
