Yes but Drake was saying UMG used illegal means to promote a song that defames him with the intention to purposefully damage his career

Without that he’s basically suing them because they let Kendrick call him a name (which he also did) So even if he wins this thing it doesn’t f***ing mean anything

Issue is not whether they legally or illegally pushed the song. He is claiming that the song itself is a defamation of his character and his own label is complicit if they pushed the song - botting or not.

The sole purpose of this lawsuit seems to be making UMG crack down and control what their artists say in diss records, Which ain’t cool

I think he just wants to make sure Kendrick can never diss him again

    I don’t think he’s killing hip hop

He’s just trying to make it where labels won’t allow their artists to diss him because he’ll sue

Which is max wealthy suburban white kid energy

If he wins, other labels will look at this and possibly put a stop to any diss record released by their artists as well, which is basically censorship. Diss records are a part of hip hop so that is killing off a part of it

But they do care if drake willingly participated, egged on, and released his own songs defaming others.

No, that's not how a defamation lawsuit works. It doesn't matter what Drake said about Kendrick. The only thing that matters are 1) can he prove that the song caused damage to his character and 2) can he prove that his own label participated in pushing the song and thereby directly contributed to the damage of his character

Drake ''Willingly participating'' in a rap beef, ''egging on'' etc. won't remove any liability from his label

My guy I can tell by your last few replies you know this lawsuit is looking ridiculous and has zero things making it justifiable

Drake is being so blatantly pathetic it’s almost impossible to twist this into any kind of W

If it was that black and white, UMG wouldn't of went with the defense they submitted. Context matters, even in the court of law.

So then Kendrick and any other artist that’s ever participated in a beef can justifiably sue?

    So follow along carefully Zack

He’s suing the label for allowing one of their artists to defame him

You’re saying every artist who got dissed on a song released by a major label has the right to sue that label

And if that’s the case, Do you think labels are gonna allow their artists to do something that could cause a potential lawsuit?
