honest unrelated question. when did you start studying numbers and s***? like do you work for a label or something? were you always like this or did you actually used to like music?

I love music. Always have. I started getting interested in stats and numbers probably around 2017. That's when I joined some music forums that kept track of numbers and I'd look up those numbers to know more about how my favourite artists were performing, as well as how the biggest acts were performing and then I started compiling certain stats I had an interest in that I didn't see other people cover like the biggest streaming weeks on the Billboard 200, the highest sales week in rap history, the longest-charting rap acts/albums, etc. Stuff like that.

That's why it's suspect. It just so happens that all the TDE stars got a massive boost in Spotify Monthly Listeners and streams around the exact same time and have lost those same numbers around the exact same time? Okay lol.

Because they all had more going on the beginning of the year with new music. If any of them release an album today their listeners will go up lol. Drake released a hot song and his s*** went up

You're talking bout Kendrick and SZA should get a tour boost like the tour hasn't been going on for 3 months now. Of course that's going to have diminishing returns lol

Do you really think having a hot song on Tik Tok for an artist of Doechii's size wouldn't boost her stream numbers?

That's actually not true. Drake has been releasing music throughout this decade and his numbers have never gotten a massive boost to the levels Kendrick's did. He dropped music throughout last year as well as dropped a collab album this year and his monthly listeners remained the same.

"I started getting interested in stats and numbers probably around 2017."

Imagine if she put all this energy into something positive like a career in Accounting, Data Science, Financial Advisor, etc. You know, a job in which you get PAID to d*** ride numbers for a living

Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned Drake cause I really don't pay attention to dude at all outside of KTT posts so idk much. But genuine question, what was Drake's last huge hit that lasted #1 for multiple weeks? Did he not get a boost in streams from Nokia?

drake has been a way more active, accessible and popular rapper than kendrick throughout their whole careers, and especially in the 20’s

kendricks comeback album was an artistic risk for a newer generarion of listeners that didnt give it much of a chance as a mainstream album (i love morale personally)

this beef, the pop out, gnx and superbowl was the perfect storm to reintroduce kendrick back into the pop rap lane, aswell as introduce him into a whole new generation of listeners

him and sza had a major hit with luther, and her also featuring in the superbowl helped her, aswell as her deluxe drop, and doechii’s album gained alot of virality (and then anxiety was everywhere) so its easy to see why all three gained alot of monthly listeners with those patterns

now its just stabilised cos the peak of the new listeners has naturally decreased, and this is a more accurate number to their popularity

kendrick (like with damn.) showed how he could compete in the pop rap lane if and when he wants, whereas drake has always occupied that lane. i dont see whats hard to understand lol

He got a boost in streams when $$$4U dropped in the same way any artist who drops a new album gets a boost. My point is that his monthly listeners have pretty much remained the same for 3-5 years now. It's lingered around 75-82M monthly listeners in all that time.

All of this is especially hilarious now because when Kendrick had 110M monthly listeners, his fans were BRAGGING about those numbers and posting everyday he increased in them. Now that people are calling out how drastically they've dropped, those same numbers magically don't matter anymore

The only reason Kendrick’s monthly listeners peaked so high is because he performed at the Super Bowl. A tour alone isn’t making someone monthly listeners total skyrocket, just ask Drake: he tours every year and he’s never cleared 100M monthly listeners

Post beef when Kendrick got to these numbers (was even lower than it is now) TGD was spewing how it is inflated and only cause beef and stuff and will go back down.

Now that they are back to THOSE numbers TGD saying they are pathetic and a sign of his downfall
