Voir Dire is all sample based instrumentals man it is not layered
Not knocking that album though but layered is an interesting way to describe it
It’s not even about it being sample based because you can have Pete Rock or Public Enemy which even if it’s all samples they build a bunch of layers on top of each other
The Alc stuff, most of his beats are literally one main layer with maybe a few sound effects, and I’m not saying this as a knock. His album with Earl is the definition of production that’s not layered
Drake isn't necessarily wrong here, I just think he didn't need to go so hard
Joe didn't personally attack him
That being said, I don't quite get the criticism with Drake. At the end of the day, the goal of this s*** is to make music that resonates with the people, and it obviously does in a major way. The #1 goal of an artist is to make music that people like.
He's going to have 8 of the top 10 on billboard. He's unbiasedly making the right calls musically. that much, cannot be denied.
I also think it's ridiculous to make character and maturity assumptions off of 1 hr and 30 minutes of his life. These are songs that depict very small moments of his life over the span of 36 years. Relax.
I don’t think Joe said anything wrong tbh even if I do agree with Drake that Budden’s rap career didn’t turn out the way his podcast career did.
Drake do be hanging out with these young rappers too much trying to copy their flows and sounds.
And Drake do be f***ing with these young girls too much.
He’s a couple of years away from getting the Leonardo DiCaprio reputation.
MEN WANT YOUNGER GIRLS
YOUNGER WOMEN ARE HOTTER
BUDDEN DOES THE SAME THING
Drake won't win going against all these journalist.
It's their job to push out a narrative
Now it will be their job to hate on him
Your favorite rapper would do the same thing drake did if he had the talent to do it.
This s*** is a business
Locking in with streamers pushes the music and brand forward
That's why Drake is where he's at. If he listened to Joe budden he'd be running a f***ing podcast instead of being a billionaire.
Point me to 5 hip hop albums from this year that are more layered/produced than this
Utopia is all that comes to mind
'more produced'
densely layered MORE produced MORE layered musically doesn't automatically make it good. imagine dragons or coldplay have songs way more layered production than this drake album that doesn't make their music remotely good
why is he attacking her then ?
Notice the nigga had no response for that😭😭
The 747 s*** was corny. We in a recession nigga read the room
No lie I always think it's lame when people say this like if you really feel this way why keep up with a celeb at all?.

Didn’t Joe marry a 25 year old at 38?
Drake won't win going against all these journalist.
It's their job to push out a narrative
Now it will be their job to hate on him
It’s his job to put out better music
It’s actually the opposite
When you have pancreas problems you s*** more often
Got his weaknd ass😭😭
not even the most layered rap album of the past 2 weeks
we buy diabetic test strips and voir dire out now!
I need to hear the explanation for how Voir Dire is layered fam, like let’s go layer for layer. Start with track one and break down the layers for me, then I’ll do the layers for a drake song, and we keep going and see who has more layers after 11 tracks

My favorite rapper is Youngboy. He got too much integrity for the bullshit. Just straight music. Even when it ain’t good
Drake shouldn't have responded in this way. In between responding to Charlamagne and Needledrop this is sad. Not to say criticism can't get to him but he never did s*** like this. Give em niggas a bar or two and keep it moving. Hope that break he takes does him some good.
Got his weaknd ass😭😭
He need to get that under control bc pancreatitis can lead to pancreatic cancer which is like one of the deadliest cancers if not the worst
Funny part is idgaf was way better with drake off it
Don’t knock podcasting bro
That's not a knock on podcasting
I never said podcasting was a bad thing in there at all. Just saying that clearly Drake makes the right decisions when it comes to being a rapper in the music business
Drake isn't necessarily wrong here, I just think he didn't need to go so hard

He's critiquing the music, it's just like a XXL or The Source review in the 90's or Pitchfork s*** or whatever. His opinion is that music is immature, not that Drake is necessarily an immature person.
In his response Drake didn't really say anything about Joe's critique.
