He’s one of the best ever but don’t confuse talent with popularity. Mans not that Global. At this point he and Travis are neck to neck popularity wise.
Im from DR, born and raised and I can tell a lot of the artist y’all bet on against Drake are literally jokes when it comes to global numbers and reach. Y’all have to come the islands to understand why Drake is Drake. See how Kanye fought and lost.
Kanye could never win. His main focus hasn't been music for 4 years now. His career is also 6+ years older (9-10 if you could production hits) than Drake. I think Drake would be pretty happy with 300k first week in 6 years too.
When it comes to Kendrick, Damn and GKMC are probably as big as any Drake album. Those albums were really popular, not just good. And his mainstream career is a few years younger than Drake's, which I do think makes a difference. Everyone's popularity has a shelf life, Kendrick might have used less of his time up.
When I said Kendrick could compete I was only talking about the US.

Kendricks mainstream debut dropped only two years after drakes
Kendricks mainstream debut dropped only two years after drakes
Could be a wrong perception
but to me Drake is a mainstream star from 09, Kendrick isn't till 12. Even if hip hop heads already loved his earlier projects
plus Kendrick has saturated himself a lot less. Could be a good or a bad thing. I feel like some artists take so long they go cold, but maybe it works for Kendrick
Kendricks mainstream debut dropped only two years after drakes
Drake had a #2 billboard solo hit in 09
Kendrick dropped his first real album in 2012
That’s 3 years

Damn already outsold More Life in 2017.

ML had 5 days tracking and no physicals and still did 500K plus
has anyone ever debuted the entire top 10 simultaneously?
Drake holds the record for most songs in the Hot 100 top 10 in a single week with 7.

great point yet you did a great mistake, no Kendrick album has touched the MASSIVE commercial success that Views had, no even close. not even by singles plaques. again Kendrick may have better critical acclaim and influence in the hip hop culture, but that does not define commercial success or impact in the mainstream culture at all as we have seem so far. Drake seems to be the only one who's been able to translate drums to the slums when its all said and done tbh.

Playlist, no even a mixtape. Done just to continue the touring over Europe after Views's success, it even carried the theme out. so basically you're comparing DAMN which is Kendrick's attempt of Views to More Life which is Drake's attempt of Unmastered Untitled if we really put it clear in the open.

I'm eager to see what he has in the chambers but after the so many shots he fired in family ties and such a comeback it didn't really made no noise, came and went. We're on a different era now and Drake's competitor seems to be Kanye now... But im waiting for what he has to offer, im a true fan since The heart Pt. 3.

you really think Kanye is bigger than Kendrick? I'm not convinced.
Family Ties made no waves with casual music fans because it was a very inside hip hop type of verse.
I think when it's album time casual fans will be on board again

Was Damn or Scorpion bigger? I can't remember.
With GKMC it's been on the billboard 200 albums chart since it came out. Might even be the longest running hip hop album chart wise or something like that. Impressive, even if it changed recently I'm not sure.
In terms of overall stats, someone who drops 4 albums in a decade with much smaller tracklists and less features around them won't be able to touch Drake's overall stats. But I think he's the second biggest after Drake, and could easily have a bigger album. Depends on the direction too

Kanye has more cultural impact than Kendrick in the world. That’s not debatable at all, Kendrick is still new or barely referenced to a lot of audiences while Kanye’s been out for nearly two decades, that includes his musical career as producer, rapper and then artist, and then his designer and fashion industry career, much later with his political s***ty career.
If Drake can do this much damage and win over somebody who has this much cultural impact, commercial success and legacy in the hip hop community and overall mainstream world, imagine how unfair would it be to scale to Kendrick. Not saying Kendrick cannot smoke Drake on a hip hop record and hip hop culture in general but when it comes to Drake you cannot box him in Hip Hop cause he’s just waaaaay beyond that, we’re talking about the biggest music act in the world as of now since 2016.

Scorpion was bigger than views and views was way bigger than damn so imagine if you scale it up how small Kendrick looks next to Drake’s reach and the boy just keep reaching new heights with CLB.

I'm only talking about music. I think the next Kendrick album will be bigger than Donda

Not outside of the USA tho

Maybe, i only meant billboard.
I'm sure there's markets where kendrick is bigger too though. I'm in the UK. I don't know the numbers but Damn felt bigger than Pablo, even though you heard FADE, Father stretch and panda a lot.
