Drake/his team do it intentionally. "niggas want a classic that's 10 of these." I think Kanye continually trying to sabotage his career this whole decade along with him not getting the recognition he wanted for NWTS made him realize that classics don't mean much and that he should just play to his actual strengths cuz Ye has a bunch of so-called classics but he can't dominate pop s*** like Drake.

sidebar: if we being honest Kanye hates drake bc drake gets the benefits of being very close to white and still gets the cultural currency of a black man. Kanye is extremely uncomfortable with race and the expectations that coincide with race, both perceived and real, and it kills him to see drake be able to live freely w/o some of the perceived constraints of blackness that he feels he has to/had to deal with.
