For example, MJ's "worst" and final adult studio album sold 2 million in the US and 13 million worldwide. Y'all hear that? SOLD. Drake's last album sold only 100k in the first week and another 600k was added to the total from streaming.

They pretty obviously don’t have a choice they can’t just ignore what I’m guessing is no by far the most common way new music gets consumed.

But the fact that they have set an arbitrary number to convert streams to “sales” doesn’t mean these are the same thing.

I think you can argue which is most important either way cos the two things are not really comparable, but personally think it’s unfair that in theory an album could now be a best seller if one song was streamed 10billion times and the rest were streamed once each

they don't turn streams into sales. they combine streams and sales to create a unit, or one equivalent to what could have been the total sales if people actually went out there way to buy it.

Drake is one of the best selling artists of all time, but has not surpassed MJ in terms of SALES. Plus, MJ is also one of the most streamed artists right now and is gaining over a million subscribers each month on YouTube since November and has over 17 million total.

His album Thriller has been on the Billboard 200 consistently since around 05 even though it was released back in 1982 and has been on the chart for over 400 weeks total. It was number 1 for a record 39 weeks and is the best selling album of all time. It's outsold all of Drake's 12 mixtapes and albums combined. MJ's got many more numbers and stats, but I'm not gonna go back and forth about "facts" that aren't true.

Drake is an amazing artist who's accomplished so much in just the last 12 years. But he hasn't surpassed MJ and most likely will never. In sales, tours, popularity, anything.

facts. Drake released like 11 mixtapes and albums. Adele released two albums and sold 30 million with 21 and 20 million with 25, both have gone diamond.

I think Taylor also outsold him this decade too. Like 3 of her albums this last decade sold over 1 million copies in the first week alone and 1989 will soon go diamond as it was certified 9x platinum back in December 2017. Even Reputation, which many fans disliked, sold over 1 million in the first week and Scorpion hasn't even sold 1 million after nearly 2 years. By January 2019 Scorpion had sold over 300k.

I do give Drake his props though. Nice for What was the song of 2018 IMO and God's Plan was certified diamond, but again most of it was streams. Still a big accomplishment though.
