There’s a shift happening and we can all feel it. Even I tried to ignore that opium s*** the at first at the beginning of the decade but this s*** clear as f***. carti is about to take the top spot. This is like some never before seen s***. Rap is so fun again. Even his peers man have crowned this nigga. But In regards to drake he knows as well which is why his next project will be his best and a graceful exit from the game he ran for 15 years.
Sales wise, no rapper is going to top Drake in this decade. That's a given.
But, if we're talking who's influencing the culture the most from inside, Drake really isn't in that conversation anymore.
There's been way more Keef, Wayne, Carti, Cudi, and Thugger influence on 2020's rap than Drake. Jack Harlow's really the only rapper who draws direct influence style wise from Drake.
So, in a nutshell, the rage/hyperpop rappers, street/Drill rappers, Emo rappers, female rappers, and Trap rappers already run the culture. They just don't have bigger sales than Drake for the most part due to Drake having more crossover appeal.
Drake will still put up bigger numbers than most of the new school even if his music declines simply because he has the most crossover appeal of any rapper besides maybe Eminem. And you can't beat that.
But the shift you're referring to has already happened. It's just that Carti and his clones will never have the mass appeal or sales of Drake.
Carti doesn't drop enough for this to be true lmao, his brand was dead for like two years until recently
Drake just had Her Loss and Honestly Nevermind last year and For All The Dogs this year, FPS being looked at as the best video of the year

Bingo
Drake hasn’t really been at the top or been that nigga for a while tbh. He’ll always have the numbers and the “normies” for lack of a better term but Carti been a better and more exciting artists than him for years atp.
Drake don’t move anything. Just follows trends and does his own generic version of it but he puts it on to the normies/mainstream. IDGAF is a perfect example of this
drake only popping off still cus the generation that was supposed to replace him died.

Only?
I was at the club and asked the DJ to put on King Carti. She just looked at me with a glassy eyed stare and continued chewing her gum while playing Spotify over the aux. I nervously checked my phone. When I looked up she had pulled a novelty bottle of seltzer out of her purse. I was so confused.
Suddenly, she pressed play on Drake's hit song "Slime You Out" and went about soaking the crotch of my pants with the aforementioned bottle of seltzer. It was humiliating. Everyone was laughing and saying "damp life" and "real damp". It looked like I had pee-peed myself.
Needless to say, I don't think Carti will be taking Drizzy's spot for a long time.
Yall ever get tired of downplaying drake

Its really wild we skipped a whole gen and we just barely started finding the next-next gen
S*** is some erased history type of s*** its sad our genre went through (or even has the possibility at all) this onlly the death of pac and biggie and how their deaths major reshaped the trajectory and plans of rap matches that scale
I will never understand if carti fans are serious or not. I never liked the babyvoice s*** but this deep voice stuff isnt good either. why cant he just go back to the type of music from the S/T era?

Drake influenced more Country singers than rappers if we're being real lol
