They love it when they get to mock him for certain things but when he leans into those things and flips them on people, they get upset as well.

It's easier to understand a fan being obsessed with something they like. Being obsessed with something you hate is another thing entirely.

Drake's mere existence just always seems to get a rise/reaction out of people and that's why he'll always be famous/successful. People can't help but care about everything he does.

I think being obsessed with any person, even as a fan, is a big waste of time we don’t realize until it’s gone and our time spent obsessing means nothing in our lives ultimately.

No disagreement there but one can rationalize appreciating something/someone so much that you form a personal bond to it/them and become obsessed.
