Drake been dropping 20+ track projects since the start of his career lol. Room for Improvement, Comeback Season, Views, More Life, Scorpion, CLB each have at least 20 songs on them. There's also projects like So Far Gone, IYRTITL, Her Loss which have at least 16 songs. He's always been a high clip artist and rightfully so because he doesn't just rap. He needs enough songs to cover ground.

The reason I loved HNVM so much is cuz it’s the one album he didn’t have to cater to every audience . That’s fine to do for a few albums and it made sense at the time but at this point it is redundant. HNVM was a fresh change of scenery

The majority of Drake's fanbase doesn't give a f***. You're the one who cares about that. People love Take Care and Views and a lot of people are already admitting that CLB has grown on them. Those are all 20+ track projects. Who cares what a small minority online have to say about "long albums"?

Plus, Drake isn't your average rapper. He doesn't just make rap songs. He has several styles he covers on his albums to satisfy his fanbase. He's the one person who is justified in making long albums.

Black Coffee did an interview saying he was surprised when Drake told him he'd be dropping the album ASAP because he felt they weren't done working on it yet. That project could have easily been 16-18 songs and just as strong. Drake was just impatient for some reason.
