Drake releasing For All the DOGS the same day as Doja CAT we shouldāve known all along
I honestly don't think this rollout was terrible. And the most important part of this rollout is the next 2 weeks.
The website thing was dumb, but was probably done more just to promote the book, and the album just wasn't ready (at least that makes sense to me). And to hardcode fans it's been tough with that and all the timelines he's given at the shows.
But realistically a studio album rollout for Drake is never going to be about his hardcode fans, they are going to know regardless (remember being on here weeks before the QR code thing went live), and are always going to listen. The point is gonna be to get the wider population's attention. Which this has clearly done. I don't think it's unfair to say that most people really haven't known about the album until ~2 weeks ago with the album cover drop (and rumours of a release on the 25th). Maybe some people noticed when it was revealed on the website, but that definitely wasn't as reported on, because there were limited details and it didn't seem it was coming right away.
Even the website thing is overblown IMO. I think it's pretty obvious it was done for book promo, which is part of the rollout I'd say, and other then the DrakeRelated Twitter liking a tweet and saying "Soon come" (which isn't much anyways), all that was said is there was an album coming and it's name (and even that was up for debate). Drake never even promoted the website himself I believe.
But that still brought a little hype to everyone, even outside of his biggest fans. Since then it's been slow, but to be fair he's on tour, which I think is a massive part of the rollout in itself. Builds hype, Drake is on top of peoples minds (and maybe they like him even more/more hyped for album after seeing him live), updates at most shows, etc. Plus a lot of viral moments from the tour (bra thing, that dog barking thing, etc)
We got that hour long(!) Bobbi Althoff interview, and then the controversy surronding it, the freestyle, Starlets thing which went viral, 2 Young Thug features, 1 Travis Scott feature (all pretty popular, freestyle went viral). Plenty of smaller stuff too, I'd say there's been a lot of promotion.
Now we get the hair numbers thing, followed by the conformation. People on Twitter seemed hyped as ever (see twitter.com/nfr_podcast/status/1699587740545831252)
And there's still 2 weeks left. Which are the most "important" 2 weeks of the rollout argugably, since this is when most people know about the album and have an expectation for it (you can argue the past 2 weeks too). So if anything it's too early to really judge as a whole. It seems likely we might get a single, and I would be surprised if we don't get any interview or something like we got for Her Loss.
So I don't know, maybe I'm missing something, but this has seemed like a pretty good rollout to me. People in here are hyped, but more importantly people not on here are hyped. That's who the rollout is for. And I'd say it's worked. Since June he's had considerably more Google Searches: trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=%2Fm%2F05mt_q&hl=en
I'm no expert, but I think people are being harsh, and maybe not respecting who this rollout is clearly aimed at (if you are upset it's not catering to us more, fair enough, but I also think that was always gonna be the case)
Itās funny how people get attached to controversial trials because of their favorite artist. People in DJ Akademiks chat were legit wishing death on Meg.
It was so toxic I thought mfs were trolling lol. I read some of the most atrocious gaslighting comments Iāve ever seen

Fair enough but you've used more words critqing the rollout in the past week than I just did. I would be interested to know your main issues with it.

Well said.
I think we were just disappointed because he announced the album, revealed the cover art, and then went quiet so soon and the silence was defeating. We were following his previous correlation of cover art to album release
