Drake has actually said numerous times that 40 donât give a f*** about tracklists or sequencing or being concise lmao, he just there for the good music
He may have said that. But in October 2013 The Boy was singing a different tune.
Drake recently sat down with Canadian broadcaster Jian Ghomeshi of CBC Radio for an hour-long discussion, touching on his background, musical identity, legacy, the songwriting process behind his new album Nothing Was The Same and much more.
How does Ghomeshi's interview compare to Elliot Wilson's CRWN session with Drizzy? Read excerpts from their lengthy exchange below:
On "Nothing Was The Same":
"My right-hand partner in music creation, challenged me on this album to trim that fat. To make a very concise project and asked me toâactually gave me a song cap. Asked me to keep it at 13 or 14 songs on the original. And so that was an interesting challenge for me. And now that itâs out and the world appreciates it, itâs a great feeling."
Mr Charlies
đĽđĽ I donât have one near me but Iâve eaten there before. Itâs so good
You could put Grammys or Cant Take a Joke on this project and they wouldnt feel out of place
That doesnât mean the album is trash though, itâs solid but itâs so uninspired
And whatâs sad is that this is still better than 80% of mainstream rap these past few years
Edit: meant to say they wouldnât feel out place
elevate would fit on this album perfectly. if you told me in 2018 that that song would be the blueprint for what drake songs will sound like from now on i wouldâve laughed
Waiting for Fantano to tell me how to feel about this album
Gonna range from NOT GOOD to 4 out of 10
what album is it better than just outta curiosity?
literally all the lil uzi, lil baby, gunna, dababy, roddy rich, migos, yatchy, lil durk, etc albums
this is more enjoyable than mid steppers too

Uninspired wouldnât be a word Iâd use to describe this project.
Iâd think vapid is more accurate, at least content wise, but Drake himself definitely sounds inspired on this album
The same decade that Blonde, Channel Orange, and MBTDF dropped?
Nah b lmao
Yeezus has subtext that is far more intricate and engaging compared to those. It packs every word with an order of magnitude more punch!
Also the production is ridiculous
Gonna range from NOT GOOD to 4 out of 10
Fantani a hater he Gon give this a 2 probably
He'd be out of things to rap about after four songs using this format
him taking a break from music could make this possible, heâll come back with more substance and new s*** to talk about
Waiting for Fantano to tell me how to feel about this album
Caring about another mans opinion
literally all the lil uzi, lil baby, gunna, dababy, roddy rich, migos, yatchy, lil durk, etc albums

I agree with everyone except boat, kenny and uzi

I could see that
He'd be out of things to rap about after four songs using this format
âMCsâ have whole careers rapping about the same thing for whole albums. Cocaine etc
Drake subject matter more vast than most
I agree with everyone except boat, kenny and uzi
This album destroys mid morale
