Grouping that stuff in as R&b idk
No one considers Stevie wonder r&b, despite these labels kind of being meaningless. R&b, Rock, pop, soul are all very related but Stevie is considered more soul/pop than r&b
And trying to insinuate that a lot of r&b is less artistically valid because it focuses too much on love and doesn’t have any deeper high minded meaning is questionable too
Also Im not.
R&B also writes about relationships and the topic of love 100000x better than rappers do lmfao
You tried to grease me, but we're not in Mykonossssss
I don't get hurt much, but I'm not invincibleeeeeee
Idk what my reputation on here is at this point, but I’m not a blind drake stan, I really did feel like 2016-2020 was a somewhat dry and uninspired period from the boy musically and got some drake fatigue
But anyone acting like this is just “blah another bloated drake album” don’t be really listening to the music like that
You’re letting the fatigue and the narrative cloud the music for you
At the very least you can tell this was very intentional and worked on
These song structures and even his vocals is not some s*** drake has just been s***ting out
This is the s*** I’ve been waiting for since NWTS
This is the vocals I’ve been wanting to hear. Y’all not even r&b listeners do you’re not understanding how much better the r&b singing is on here than any of his recent albums. This s*** is gorgeous
I agree
No one considers Stevie wonder r&b
Bro ima bout to block u again if you refuse to have an actual non trolling conversation dawg
I’m really not trolling fam try to understand and give me the benefit of the doubt
I’ve never heard anyone refer to Stevie or Marvin we r&b they’re usually considered soul. And I realize this is kind of arbitrary but it’s true
Calling For You is an insane song structure, I just realized that the 21 verse wasn’t on the next song
First listen I thought the skit led into the next song which was 21 on the soulful beat and then a beat switch for drake
Why is no one acknowledging how weird this album is and just tryna be pretentious and be like “beat switches bad and not experimental”
The way this album flows musically is insane
I tried not to look at features and I had no idea when a lot of these tracks started/ended lmao
For example, I just realized Drake's last verse on Rich Baby Daddy was the same song
Idk how to explain it, but Virginia Beach sounds like its own genre of music.

Soul/r&b/pop singers usually talk about love and relationships 1000x better than rappers do

That’s not really what that post was getting at. No one captures love like stevie
Idk how to explain it, but Virginia Beach sounds like its own genre of music.
So good
So good
It’s addicting
(Distant synth arpeggios)
(Jazzy female voice)
Traveling forever in the dark
Darkness into blackness….
(Random synth chord change and trumpet layer added)
(Trap beat drops and Yeat starts rapping)
If I told y’all this is how a drake song started, or s*** a Ye song or a Tyler song etc
Y’all would cream your jeans
There would be a 100 page thread if that was a Carti snippet
