Grouping that stuff in as R&b idk

No one considers Stevie wonder r&b, despite these labels kind of being meaningless. R&b, Rock, pop, soul are all very related but Stevie is considered more soul/pop than r&b

And trying to insinuate that a lot of r&b is less artistically valid because it focuses too much on love and doesn’t have any deeper high minded meaning is questionable too

Idk what my reputation on here is at this point, but I’m not a blind drake stan, I really did feel like 2016-2020 was a somewhat dry and uninspired period from the boy musically and got some drake fatigue

But anyone acting like this is just “blah another bloated drake album” don’t be really listening to the music like that

You’re letting the fatigue and the narrative cloud the music for you

At the very least you can tell this was very intentional and worked on

These song structures and even his vocals is not some s*** drake has just been s***ting out

This is the s*** I’ve been waiting for since NWTS

This is the vocals I’ve been wanting to hear. Y’all not even r&b listeners do you’re not understanding how much better the r&b singing is on here than any of his recent albums. This s*** is gorgeous

Calling For You is an insane song structure, I just realized that the 21 verse wasn’t on the next song

First listen I thought the skit led into the next song which was 21 on the soulful beat and then a beat switch for drake

Why is no one acknowledging how weird this album is and just tryna be pretentious and be like “beat switches bad and not experimental”

The way this album flows musically is insane
