it's 3:37 AM currently. I just got home from getting topped off in my whip outside the bar. Now I'm in my room blasting Tried Our Best thinking about my ex.
Real Dog Hours
I do feel this album feels a bit more coherent and sonically consistent that CLB to me. The consistent theme that ties everything together being the anger and villain energy he seems to be trying to cultivate, even in the R and B songs. That sort of jealousy seeps through the whole album and is consistent. But I don't know if he even intended this or if it's just by accident
We as men don't wanna be looked at as old man it's human there's nothing wrong with this
True

he is a scorpio
Long read, but this is the first Drake album ever where I'm not rushing back to listen to any of the songs outside of Honestly Nevermind but I got that that was dance album and wasn't my cup of tea and a certain crowd will enjoy that.
Let me just preface this by saying I've been a diehard stan since Room For Improvement
I feel like his albums in the past had such special moments to where you couldn't resist going back and playing a Cameras, a Do Not Disturb, a Jungle, a From Time and so on and so forth. To me, this album has no songs that leave me saying "wow" like those might have made me feel off multiple listens other than 8am and maybe Amen
And I'm not resonating with ANY of the rap at all besides 8am. I'm fully over the Her Loss melodic trap Yachty sound where the beats sound like BackOutsideBoyz or the other trap s*** that sounds like Broke Boyz variants, like the last part of First Person Shooter that I feel like I've heard from him plenty of times since Her Loss.
The only R&B songs I like are Amen, Bahamas Promise, and Tried Our Best. Those 3 songs including 8am are incredible but everything else feels like a tough listen or just straight up unlistenable to me
It's depressing because Drake is my favorite artist and rapper ever and this just isn't resonating with me at all man. The songs aren't doing anything for me. Maybe my personal taste is changing. I don't know. I feel really disconnected from his music for the first time 💔
Your taste isn't really changing, he's definitely tried to make this album different on purpose. Listen to the leak "I'm the Problem" it was supposed to be on this album but he didn't add it for some reason, it's really good and leaked alongside "Tried our Best". Might be something you like a bit more.
But fair takes
I got dibs on the fatd came and went thread
Nah it'll last, it has that HN vibe
