Fitzydo artists from previous generations get this much comparison to albums they made 10 years ago?
like thriller and dangerous were almost 10 years apart, was everyone comparing dangerous to thriller or just accepting dangerous as a really good album? sure maybe universally thriller is considered his best album but it's also been out for 40 years. it's like every release, people are expecting a NWTS esque album as if you can recreate the time period, the nostalgia, the ten years you've had to digest that album off maybe 2-3 listens of a new album
it's just unrealistic expectations and you do it to yourself tbh. that's why no matter what drake drops you're disappointed
this has nothing to do with the quality of FATD just a general observation
I think the fan response was more based on 'what do I enjoy about this album"
rather than
'what thing can I say album X did better than this"

idkMaybe I'm missing something but I honestly don't remember when he's framed himself as a bad guy. Uncompromising sure but he was just calling himself a certified lover boy 2 years ago and dropped a dance album last year with some lighthearted moments throughout
