AOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooOOOooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

this as close as we're gonna get to an rnb drake album. just like how iyrtitl is the closest we'll get to a rap drake album
Yup
And I liked how this was done. Straight up r&b would be boring, he really blended it with rapping perfectly
Around like track 12 or 13 I was like oh s*** this is an r&b album
what's going on with drake? he seems a little off
This the scene in the movie where s*** isnāt going to well but you gotta perform regardless and the sound start to fade out and that ringing noise come in while the hazy pov come in and the camera pans to the confused crowd

ITS OVER

Away From Home is actually some really great introspection from Drake at this stage of his career. More of that type of reflection/maturity I think is what people are wishing for.
āThis don't feel like home anymore
It's just wall, doors, and floors
That only I can afford
Remember when it used to mean more, mean moreā
Itās my favorite rapping performance from him on the album, even above Charlotte. The storytelling is great and itās a really good execution of the āOld Drakeā promise he made when he announced the album, very reminiscent of LWYD
I wish people didnāt interpret the Esperanza Spalding line as a diss when heās clearly just reminiscing on the (petty but valid) resentment he felt 10 years ago. Thereās a lot to break down on this album lyrically and a lot of his bitter, angry and childish sentiments on this album actually have a lot of impact when you donāt view Drake as the hero of his music
IMO thatās been one of the biggest failures of Drake critique since like, Hotline Bling at least.
Fear of Heights for example is an incredibly toxic song no matter how you spin it but he starts the song off by saying āWhy they make it sound like Iām still hung up on you? That could never be.ā Before contradicting himself immediately and unleashing the most pathetic and depressing hits against Rihannaās family. I like the album a lot but it gives me a really uneasy feeling the more I listen to it. Got me legitimately worried about Drakeās health for the first time ever honestly

stomach probably killing him & he's forcing himself to get through this performance for his city and his fans
he's always been this way

he broke his ankle and was still doing shows after SFG
this is more of the same

Last āparagraphā you wrote is a perfect example of how I feel about the album. Itās a very dark album and Iām seeing that the more I listen but it keeps me wanting to re listen over and over as weird as that sounds.
Haven't been on since the release Friday night but what's the consensus here on the album? Was it a return to form or mediocre like CLB?
