He gonna be eating off those streaming royalty cheque’s off the strength of his back catalogue forever

I was told nobody wanted to listen to his music in times like this with the pandemic and protest going on 🤔

Although streaming numbers have gone down for everyone, I don’t think it should delay the album because this life we’re living is the new norm... there’s no telling when we’ll get back to “normal.”

Well, to be fair, more than 60% of his streams are from his catalog and it was reported that since the pandemic happened, people were listening to older music way more than they were listening to newer music. That's why most of the singles that have spent multiple weeks in the top 10 this year were either released late last year or very early this year, before the pandemic.

Facts

Some people want him to wait till “things get better”... What if there is no getting better anytime soon?

On top of that he announced his album is dropping this summer in the midst of the pandemic. Unless he expected the pandemic to be over in the summer (which I highly doubt) I don’t see why he would delay the album.

Around 35% from DLDT?

Less than 1B streams from DLDT. Toosie Slide has just over 300M streams. I'd say the rest of the album has about 200M streams (all US streams, of course). So about 1.3B streams from DLDT, Oprah's Bank Account and Life Is Good. The rest from his catalog.
