there are some slick nods here n there but some folk act like the whole thing dedicated to kendrick lmao

It's split down the middle too, you got some angels claiming it's a petty spoof of NLU, then you got kenfolk claiming he ripping off NLU or trying to show he has culture too, including clowns from his camp like hitta j

Then there's those of us (on both sides) that think it's a reach and that there's a few subtle nods at most and that ppl are taking random images in hallways and putting them side by side

Well, for one, none of these things were true.

He never had a ghostwriter. He has a long history of writing songs for people and Quentin Miller was credited for his work on IYRTITL and was even one of the people thanked in the liner notes of the album. Also, the reference tracks he made for Drake were clearly only for flows/cadence purposes. People saw all of these things and concluded that it didn't take away from Drake's ability as a songwriter.

He never got pissed on. As the story goes, a friend of T.I. who was drunk, peed in the aisle of a movie theater and some of it happened to get on Drake's shoe. Drake got "clowned" because he didn't beat the guy up or have people beat the guy up. That's all. Y'all frame that like some nigga went full blast on him or something and that simply never happened.

He was never a deadbeat. That's something anyone with common sense understood and even Pusha T himself eventually came out and admitted he only pushed that narrative for the purpose of his beef with Drake.

And despite all the accusations of Drake being a pedophile, he has zero actual accusations of wrongdoing from anyone.

So, at the end of the day, you can't say he "survived" all these things because what's happened with him is that most of the dirt people try to throw on him never truly stick because it's usually straight-up lies or s*** that's been offered without context, like the blackface picture of him Pusha T posted.

Something that also helps Drake a lot is that he tries his best to keep music at the forefront of everything he does. He stays making and releasing music so the conversation around him is usually mostly about the music.

I can’t understand the obsession someone can have with someone they’ve never met.

    It’s kinda worrying.

Tbf, the same could be said about the mentally unwell people who chronically lay down claims against someone they never met.

think its just since the idea of his city came up so much, he did a video honoring the city like the album is honoring the city. probably inspired or a response to NLU in a way but painting it as "just about kendrick" is disingenious and reductive

I see allot of people saying there is shoots at Kendrick in the video, but I don’t see any, except the owls in the end and the fact that the video seems inspired by Kenny.

    Am I missing something?
