Not to be that guy again...but the new streaming formula has made this a ho hum achievement? I mean, Aubrey himself never had a #1 record, a single solo #1 record...before streaming formula changed in 2016. Abel had a #1 record with the old rules, he didn't. Now everybody and their momma has a #1 record. Desiigner has a #1 record ffs. Its obviously impressive what he's doing in this era, but this is a trash era lol when 40+ year old Kanye is his biggest sales competition, just goes to show how trash this era of music is. Weeknd might do this with his next album, Kendrick, Adele will break all records etc... If you are a prime artist and your song doesn't debut top 5, you doing it wrong these days.

I'm still not sure if its really a good thing or not, the way things are measured now. On one hand, it may show directly what people are actually listening to more now. But on the other, artist know how to rig the system in their favor much easier now than before. Before, you could pay off radio..but that would only help so much for rappers. Had to have an absolutely massive song to go #1. Now? Dudes put out 30 song albums, knowing it'll help their numbers. Short songs, knowing it will help their numbers, meme songs etc... the overall quality has declined imo. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

What kind of dumb post is this? Using desiigner having a hit as a downplay. That was the biggest rap song in the world 🤣😂 real life banger playing outside

Still an achievement but yeah streaming era has changed the way you should look at charts and numbers. Drake said he got more hits than the Beatles but noone ever had to go out and buy a single player in a store for one of his songs. A billboard top 10 today and and 30 years ago are 2 completely different things

That's what I'm saying. It's impressive, obviously. But if the headline is "drake becomes first artist with top 10 on billboard charts all to himself" then its a bad headline. You can't compare eras like that. MJ would've had the top 20 in his day, Em etc... Like comparing the NBA before and after the 3 point line. Much easier to score now.

He was dominating so much he literally had no #1's before the streaming rules came into effect? lol Weeknd blocked Hotline Bling. Its all on google, sir. Not hating if its facts, that's what y'all tell me all the time

Because The Weeknd released 3 remix’s and a video to boost his numbers the week before
Even billboard wrote an article about him doing that to get the #1 😂
All on google my guy just like you said

This wrote an essay 😂 streaming era showing that black music is dominant and traditional pop is dead. Cry about it. Labels can’t buy bulk records like they used to

    Funny how that works huh

  • Sep 18, 2021

All I see that has changed is the radio has become less relevant causing hip hop to dominate because thats what the public is streaming.
Saying that these streaming records is meaningless is saying that hip hop being on top is meaningless

This ain't a safe bet. Especially for weeknd. If he drops a week the charts are weak it's possible

DONDA the biggest debut this year on streaming outside of CLB, couldnt even manage to get close to debuting 5 in the top 10 let alone 9

that just verified that Drake's hype is massive, since steaming services of nowadays are big part of the charting and super convenient way to consume music, therefore im not surprise Drake got many of CLB songs on the top 10, i doubt if half of those songs will remain on the top 10 list week after, because hype is more of psychological reason for people to interact with Drake's current music but IMO most of them don't have reply value and most people just listened to it since its new Drake music and people want to be part of the moment, i predict that some of the top 10 Drake's charting songs now will have massive drop next week

You should not be mentioning Kendrick/Weeknd in the same sentence as Adele, they are on an entire tier below Adele/Drake in terms of how big they are and their selling power. I don’t think you are aware of how big these artists are when compared to each other.

Any artist that abused bundles gets dropped down an additional tier due to it making them appear bigger than they are.
