If Drake was strictly an R&B artist from the get go, that genre sees a bigger resurgence and relevance early on in the 10s. I think it's due to him being more close to Hip Hop that made R&B during that era feel overlooked. Plus, Drake played a big role in melodic Hip Hop which left R&B artists unneeded unfortunately. R&B is blowing up again this decade tho.
I do gotta give Drake his props for cosigning on a lot of R&B artists (The Weeknd, Brent Faiyaz, Summer Walker, Giveon, Tems, etc.)

yeah that’s what i’m saying he helped put a lot of dudes on and grew the genre
