actually didnt see many people calling this track above average. But i think its definitely peak drake.
Drizzy in his feelings
Drake peak vocals
Rap/singing balance (even high pitch singing)
Production/beat - very unusual underwater production, not generic, . I think Ive never heard that type of beat before even after that. Still slaps
PND adlibs at its best
Mix/master - I think one of the best mixed tracks from NWTS. Those delays and reverbs are really something special. 40 goat.
I really miss NWTS drake tbh. We will see what CLB will brings to us.

That song is perfect
I share similar sentiments OP. Own It is 100% the track I would play if anyone came up to me and said, “who is this Drake guy, what type of music he make?”

100% agree. This is how i made couple of my friends a Drake's fans 6-7 years ago. They were high at the moment and I blew their minds by playing this song 😁 They never really heard something like that. Its timeless. If s*** would drop tonight everyone would go crazy about it. It doesnt even sounds like 7 years old song. Its still so amazing
I would say 305 to my city birthed the entire sound of thug lowkey
If it came out today most people would say thats thug or drake got a fake thug on the track
Initially I liked Wu Tang Forever and Own It as a pair. But as time went on, Own It started to fall off for me.
The second verse picks up but "Next time we f*** I don't wanna f***, I wanna make love" makes me wanna skip.
