On the track, which samples Michael Jackson’s 1988 song of the same name, Drake is believed to address multiple people, namely Kendrick Lamar and Rick Ross, the former as part of their ongoing beef (e.g., “Push Ups”, “Family Matters”, “The Heart Part 6”), and the latter for both releasing “Champagne Problems” as well as for a July 2024 incident at the Ignite Music Festival in Vancouver where Ross was assaulted for playing Lamar’s most recent diss track, “Not Like Us”, after his performance.The track’s existence was first alluded to by Top Dawg rapper Ab-Soul on July 9, 2024, after he and other people close to Lamar had allegedly heard an early version of the track.
