Funny thing is that this certification won't count towards his RIAA numbers. It'll only count towards Future.

    Another RIAA/Billboard roadblock?

    Why’s that?

    YA DOG ACE

    Why’s that?

RIAA certifications only count towards the act credited as a lead artist. In this case, that person is Future so it'll only count for him. Everyone who had writing credits on the song will get plaques but beyond that, it'll only count for Future on RIAA's database/website.

That doesnt change the fact that Drake is a credited performing artist on the song. Yes on RIAA's website it will a future song but Drake will also be credited as an artist as well. Its his song also

Yes it will, they count features as well when including singles sold thats how he has sold over 142 million certified singles so far

No, they don't. And he has 163.5M certified units on RIAA's website/database, not 142M.

    Go to this link:
    riaa.com/gold-platinum/?advance_search=1&tab_active=awards_by_artist&format_option=singles&type=all#search_section

Go to Drake's name and click on "more details." It only shows the songs where he's a lead artist. None of the songs he's featured on appear there.

He has over 100M certified units as a featured artist. If all those counted, he'd be closer to 300M certified units than to 200M.

hate to say it but this song does not deserve a diamond plaque at all. Futures label pulled off some trickery for the music video lol.

I noticed that as well. Can't say I care seeing as the song would still be 5-7x Platinum regardless just off it's streams from Apple Music/Pandora/Spotify. And if anything fishy actually happened then that's on YouTube because it's YouTube streams remained consistent for well over a year. If there were any bots being used or fake streams coming in, they have systems in place to detect that and take the necessary action.

Just gotta wait for Future's label to certify it 💎 now.

That’s true. Regardless, I’m happy for Drake

Same. Also, if anything fishy went down, that's on Future and his label, not on Drake lol.

Congrats to them both. It's also important to note that pop stans are really just mad at the audacity of a rap video to have more views that all the videos their faves dropped last year. If it was a video by a pop star doing these numbers, they wouldn't care or complain so much about it.

    Brit Certified (BPI) awards

Here are Drake's certifications in the UK (all up to date - since Brit Certified is automatically updated). All Credits (up till 09-Jul-21):

    • 47 BPI Silver Awards
    • 23 BPI Gold Awards
    • 14 BPI Platinum Awards
    • 9 BPI 2 x Platinum Awards
    • 2 BPI 3 x Platinum Awards
    • 1 BPI 5 x Platinum Award

Drake with 44.4M song units is the second highest certified artist in the UK (based on singles in this digital/streaming era - all credits).

btw don't compare songs performance from these to US based on face value (different thresholds for the awards + different population number in the two countries). They share the names, and thats about it. I added units needed for each certification so now only the population difference is the problem (+ slightly different formula).
