No you have it mistaken. Read the end of the article again. It says UMG will countersue Kendrick if Drake sues them. He hasn't fully submitted a suit yet, just a pre-motion it says. Drake had a line in Heart part 6 about Kendrick "needing to keep money for later" so clearly this all has been going on behind the scenes for a while. 100 Gigs and the instagram drops make full sense now.

Because they conspired against him by offering illegal deals and running illegal schemes to boost a song that’s defaming him in a very serious way to make more money. Hope this helps 👍🏾
