Spotify has a major bot problem. Likely every artist gets bot plays. I have a song that went from 10 streams a day to 30k and back with no other engagement, no playlist adds, all from the same city, etc. I reported it to Spotify and they said they were legit plays lol.

There’s no doubt in my mind that there are likely billions of streams that are artificial on Spotify. I don’t think that for huge songs though that the streams would really make a significant impact or make up a large percentage of the plays.

I think Not Like Us got an ass ton of plays because it generated a ton of organic interest. The beef transcended rap and became a defining pop cultural moment, and the song was the standout moment of it. It’s not surprising that the song was a hit.
