I can see the labels getting greedy, yeah. Lucien did say he has a blank check book whenever drake wants to move so
It's classic negotiation, right?
You don't just give in to whatever an artist is desiring, even if it's Drake.
Not Like Us was convenient but again, he only has one album left on this deal, and his relationship with UMG is not a good one so Not Like Us kind of was just the easy thing to latch on to his bigger issue w/the label, which is trying to get another bag out of them.
It’s the timing of it. Doing it after losing the beef and pointing to NLU as the smoking gun is why people will disregard any of this even if he wins.
If he was planning this why even engage in the beef. He could have deaded it or not even responded.
there was no specific example of this before. at least not one with strong enough evidence to potentially survive a 12(b)(6)- failure to state a claim.
NFR stray one of the best things to come from this
Hate those dweebs & Kurrco
This is literally just gonna make them both more popular tho…
So basically they are arguing that Spotify/UMG briefly lowered the value of a “stream” or how they convert streams to “sales” to artificially boost the song while everyone else in the industry was playing by the rules?
The pre-suit filing doesn’t have a lot of information but states there was a non-disclosed arrangement between UMG and Spotify that incentivized Spotify to feature the song more. They don’t claim this is because of Kendrick or anything, they claim it was done to make Interscope seem like a better label so the CEO could pocket more money. The exhibits A through C in the filing ask the state to subpoena evidence from both UMG and Spotify for a discovery, which would include all disclosures related to arrangements for the label, song and internal employee affairs

I need the elimination of Kurrco to take place sooner than later
Amidst all this pandemonium I just want to point out that British food is unfairly and harshly judged tbh it's not that bad pretty basic but roasted meat n taters slaps gravy slaps u can keep that blood pudding shi but even baked beans ain't that bad I said what I said and if u wanna argue I'll happily enter litigations
Nah. F*** that ashy looking s***
crazy round 2

There wasn’t an example of a song being pushed by labels before NLU?
Need proof post your s***
Nah, that was a d***head thing of me to say. You can choose to believe if you want but at the end of the day it doesn't matter.
its gonna end with a settlement statement stating what they did to bot NLU and a commitment to not f***ing with the license fees anymore with DSPs
UMG will spend a billion in lawyer fees before they ever admit an ounce of wrongdoing
Drake is a fool for trying to sue them whatsoever
The drake won crowd got their work cut out for them
I think he does think he has the leverage and I think he actually does
the leverage lies in all the money they stand to lose if one of the biggest artists in the world decides to set a new precedent
I mean you’re speaking in theoreticals that’s cool and honestly I’m for that
as it stands right now drake is still the establishment, the industry and he realizes the leverage they have
Maybe somewhere along the line before this he changed his mind and perhaps we are seeing the unfolding of that but its too early to say
His history and status quite literally says the opposite, he used the industry and establishement (like any ofher artist, not knocking drake) to succeed alongside his natural talent, team, etc
there was no specific example of this before. at least not one with strong enough evidence to potentially survive a 12(b)(6)- failure to state a claim.
Hmm could be, I mean they must feel pretty confident in their evidence to even file. Guess we’ll see.
