He’s a businessman and an adult that just doesn’t even see that much merit in rap music anymore, this is him going nuclear.

He was accused of being a pedo and had dude running around telling his business associates and friends in high places to stop hanging with him and not bring their kids around him. He’s not losing this 😂

What are the chances UMG just pays Drake an absurd amount of money so they don’t have to air out dirty laundry, and he knows this? like even if they think they could win this, is it even worth it for them? Drake at that point got to throw dirt on Kendrick which a lot of people are running with now, and get a crazy settlement/gets to leave the label. Even if the labels are pissed about this drake has like every popular streamer in his back pocket…there’s no way he still wouldn’t be the most popular artist.

This seems more likely to me than Drake “sacrificing his career to save the music industry from these evil corporations”.

Don't take this the wrong way but comparing Drake being cool to xQC and Adin Ross to a company that owns like 1/3 of the music industry and has no problem backdooring artists to prove a point is kinda out there.

We don't even know if this is making it to court

And if it does I don't see Drake benefiting from this much

Didn't even have to respond. If he just chilled out all summer and dropped a fire project on his return it would still be better than whatever this is

Also what do people mean by “umg pushed not like us so the next contract negotiation with Drake would be cheaper” how does that work for them exactly? “Yes, not like us, the song calling our biggest artist a pedophile,is the most popular song in the world…now we have the leverage against Drake, and the 600mil dollar deal with Drake is now only gonna cost us 550mil!!!!!! We did it!!!!!”

Like wouldn’t they be worse off now that there biggest investment has stadiums screaming in unison calling him a pedo?

I mean idk about that theory at all but Kendrick stlll distributes his stuff through UMG even if he is not signed to them like Drake is so they still ate this summer regardless.

Also Drake ain't their biggest investment. Taylor Swift is deff under UMG through Republic

I mean I get him from a financial point tbh.
He got called a pedo without any concrete evidence, been told people shouldn't bring kids around him, etc.
Of course it prob f***ed with his bag heavily.
People ITT acting like "Oh, if he dropped a fire ass album, he would've been good".
That's not how it works lmao.
He got f***ed for a bunch of money on a baseless claim and now he's taking legal action.
Not taking any sides, but from a financial side, I do get where he's coming from, I would've done the same if I got defamed and lost a s*** ton of business opportunities.
Don't think he cares about how the hip-hop community will see him after the beef anymore, anyhow, tbh.

if not he could be printing money

Oh well, Drake 8 miled the accusations and started the crazy accusations when he said the man beats his woman and that his kids not his,

They both got to mudslinging, Kendrick's just stuck.

Don't be playing them crazy games and then be upset when they backfire

purely baseless speculation on my part but it's not a farfetched to think that the biggest gangsters in the business world would threaten legal or other action against me after I finessed them out of millions of dollars and made them look like fools in front of the whole world

Timeline wise if you look at it from every angle, Drake took it a step further and Kendrick matched the energy,

Like That was just some rap s***

Push Ups was mostly rap s*** until he dropped Whitney name.

Euphoria and 6:16 in LA.. Kendrick mostly kept it rap but alluded to taking it further if Drake gets outta line.

Drake did so on Family Matters and the rest is history.

That's why that second lawsuit is so sus to me because we all have a clear timeline of events.

UMG had no problem clearing all those records in the back and forth, he's just mad NLU did what it did

Burden of proof don't work just one way in this case tho. He was also flinging mud without showing evidence. Only difference is, the mud from the other side lingered

Nah I agree with all that, from both sides there was a lot of unnecessary s***
From a moral standpoint, ofc he looks like a b**** cause he engaged with and said a lot of s*** as well, and now that he's lost he's suing etc
Just saying I get that from, a financial standpoint, this was the only logical next step
Cause I don't feel like he cares about what anyone thinks about him now, most of the community turned on him, so f*** it, I'll try and get a bag back lmao
