UMG/Lucian did not like Drake not only getting out of his deal, but also into a new incredibly lucrative one, while STILL BEING ABLE TO OWN ALL HIS MASTERS!

They stopped pushing his music as a result, treating him as a quasi-independent artist, out of pure jealousy and greed. He still sold incredibly well.
Heads are hot at UMG. People are furious.

There were talks of “ending Drake” for quite a while before the beef. Not Like Us was as clear choreographed a UMG-coordinated smear campaign as we’ve ever seen. Label heads playing God without a care for who notices or what may result.

Well this is what it looks like when the little man fights back. There will be massive repercussions from this. Drake may be in physical danger going forward, as I’ve said before this is nothing short of an Activist moment from Drake, I’m almost to the point of tears because we’ve been able to see it all play out in such a moving/sudden way. Just wow, man.

You know what, I really wasn’t trying to take it there, but I’m done playing nice with you. The fact is, y’all turned on Drake after everything he’s done for the culture, and that disloyalty speaks volumes.

Drake carried hip-hop into global dominance, made it mainstream in ways few could ever dream of, and still showed love to the roots of the culture. He’s opened doors not just for himself but for countless others in the Black community and beyond—artists, producers, songwriters—and y’all still found a reason to hate on him.

And look at how the universe responded to the disrespect: Trump won the election. It’s like karma on a cultural level. When you stop respecting those who paved the way and keep the culture alive, bad things happen. Drake was out here making hits, creating opportunities, and bridging gaps, while y’all decided to throw him under the bus for what? Some misplaced loyalty to narratives that tear us down instead of build us up?

I’m just saying, if you’re gonna critique him, at least acknowledge everything he’s done and the sacrifices he’s made for the culture. It’s wild how quick people are to forget.

Drake already looks bad. Y'all already hate his guts and to my knowledge, he's still not suing Kendrick. This is all aimed at UMG, which makes it funnier. I feel like a part of the reason for this is simply to distract from Kendrick's album.
