I mean I understand where they’re coming from, but Drake/UMG/OVO would’ve likely had this all checked out already right? … it seems the legality around AI voice filters is still all pretty blurred anyways

“the song had caused “substantial economic and reputational harm” by creating the “false impression that the estate and Tupac promote or endorse the lyrics for the sound-alike.” - People keep trying to parrot this idea but I really think this is a stretch, nobody thought this is an endorsed statement against Kendrick, it’s a clear parody to everyone who listened. (The quality of the AI voice + the subject matter shows that)

Wonder how it pans out, will Drake end up taking the posts down…? wouldn’t be a good look despite the creativity of the response

not sure they can do anything as long as he doesn't attempt to sell the record commercially.

I saw in the other thread that they were playing it on sound 42, but I don't think that's a commercial purpose either. Everything I've read has basically said the radio can play whatever as long as they have permission of whoever made the record. Though the only point I don't see standing is drake + whoever else, solely owning the copyright to the song because of the ai. But that don't matter when it come to radio play.

2pac's estate need to leave the song alone. Let it hit Billboard Hot 100.

3rd verse is special. Wish it didn’t have the first two

  • Various options here, tbh. Either out of respect for Pac and his family, he’ll take the song down. Or he’ll leave it up and have his legal team and Universal to take care of it. The estate honestly doesn’t seem to have a strong case for this. Or maybe he can pay them out and put the song up on DSP’s. Either way, the damage is done. The s*** is out there.
