I feel like Pitchfork has taken a bit of swerve against Kendrick since Mr. Morale. In fact, I feel like they’ve done that with a number of artists that they used to consistently hail.

I think the angle from Kendrick just comes from the fact that he’s an intense, brutally honest person who openly admits to things about himself that people like Drake would be foaming at the mouth to reveal on these types of diss tracks (hence Drake mining and regurgitating so much content from Kendrick’s own records).

He even gave him fair warning to not make it personal, it’s not like he came out of the gate swinging, but Drake can’t help but bring up his opponents’ woman in his diss tracks.

If this is truly a M.A.D. situation, then time will tell. Obviously I love Kendrick’s music and him as an artist far more than I do Drake, who kind of represents everything wrong with the music industry and celebrity in general (look at the type of people who support him), but if Drake’s accusations proved valid, I’d drop him.
