The point is that sales don’t mean much when it comes to how the music is viewed in the long run. Almost half of the top ten has faded.

Meanwhile you have genuinely iconic albums that haven’t moved units like that

You see, when the quality and long-term relevance of their favorite artists's music is dogshite they HAVE to resort to sales

I do think that Drake will be looked back on fondly. He’s a fringe top 10 at worst and low top ten at best all time

    how?

50 Cent and TI, prolly yeah but the rest nah. Drake started putting out mid about four years into his career after NWTS

    how? by lasting longer.

Not really cuz n real time nelly & ja rule were doin exactly wat Drake doin he jus doin it in a streaming / social media era so his s*** is jus magnified.

The difference is Drake raps his ass off from time to time. He's not the most technical or anything but he still really raps, something Nelly and Ja never did

Or you have iconic albums like so far gone, take care, nothing was the same & iyrtitl that millions of people love. Even got good critic reviews since care about that so much

Most of this s*** is hype. You just CHOOSE to believe that these memories and Drake's hype will disappear, but historically the opposite is true.

What keeps the old music relevant (at least as relevant as it can be)? It's not the critic's reviews. It's not even necessarily quality. It's all hype I PROMISE

    Not true.

So you think MJ and Stevie Wonder the only artist people post their time period listen to?

    Prince? Bowie? No?

Those two examples weren't the point. The point is that there aren't that many exceptions.

It's looking like Drake will be an exception

Saying he lasted longer than Pac is such a bad take. Those youngins have absolutely no idea about music if they think that. Pac is literally immortal. You don't even have to like Pac but that's a fact.

Do you realistically be looking back on Run DMC hits or any one in that category with any regularity?

Or do you play classic albums more?

Sometimes hits make artists more memorable then their actual album discography. Take any one hit wonder from the 90s-2000s as an example, they're only known for one song but hell people still remember who they are because of that one song.

In the case of Drake though he arguably has some classic albums too.

Pac has the death stimilus. we dont know where he'd be 10 years in if he still lived. Meanwhile drake is still on top a decade later
