Albums have become the white traditionalist cultural pastime we were still thinking baseball was
???
People will say he is crying, can’t change that. Just keep rapping with this same type of introspection on the project 🔥🔥
I didn’t have any issue with what you said until you started calling me a b****

Dam niggas still arguing on a beautiful Saturday Drake look what you’ve done
Draketothe all over again
Death of albums isn’t just a platform issue it’s a cultural one and nobody seems to notice. It also isn’t a lack of care from the general public like music fans seem to think - it’s an active apathy and cynicism towards mainstream albums being pyramid schemes that aren’t worth listening to in full
We don’t get those albums anymore because albums aren’t for everyone anymore. The same way superhero comics aren’t for everyone anymore. Further, a lot of albums prioritize checking off boxes of what an album should be (standards that only exist amongst music nerds btw) and not just making full bodies of work that anyone can just play and enjoy

He got people in a frenzy over a 3 minute freestyle

Why do you feel this way? All of the biggest artists and moments in music (besides the beef obviously) in 2024 were centered around albums

And wait until he truly drops

People always say this, yet the album continues to remain king. Name 1 dominant artist who doesn’t have at least 1 album that is culturally and/or critically revered

Yep. The key to all this is consistency in quality projects.

It’s because of the death of attention spans. People judge a song in 15 seconds and if they don’t like it they skip. People leave album reviews 15 mins after they can come out even though the album length is 45 mins long.

Jack Antonoff recently said it best: “a great song without a great album behind it is like a road that leads nowhere”
Until the day comes where we see an artist amass massive relevancy and/or success through singles and EPs only, we can’t truly say that the album is a dead format
No he did not
