Calling MJP a fake fan just shows that you’re not tapped in

None of that matters. WATTBA did 375k at time when Future wasn't even cracking 100k yet with his solo albums. I don't think it's something they could fight against, especially if Drake takes that particular issue in front of a judge. They've agreed to count his previous collab albums towards his tally. Them disagreeing to do it now would would tell a judge they're simply trying to be petty because of the legal battle and since there's already precedent, I don't see how a judge doesn't agree that Drake should be able to drop the album and have it count towards his deal.

DS2 did 151K first week btw.

I don't think UMG would want to class this collab as his last album tbh. They are a business at the end of the day and a solo album will be far more successful than a collab with Party.

Also his past collabs were with Future and 21 who are both more popular than Party.

You’re right, they wouldn’t. Which is why they would block the release if it was labeled as a “Drake & Party” album. I think this will be billed as a PARTYNEXTDOOR solo album and just have uncredited Drake features on the entire tracklist, a la Collegrove and A Written Testimony

How is it going to perform terribly if it’s dropping on a completely different label? You don’t think Sony will push this? Idgi

He’s gonna end up owing UMG money or party will if they do that, kinda like how Kanye ended up owing United a ton of money bc of vultures and dropping the album independent

I’m a fake fan when I’ve seen Drake 5 times in concert over the last decade?
Owning the catalog on vinyl? Making compilations and putting on radio shows for this section on numerous occasions over the years?

All to be thrown away for what? Because I’m not loyal enough to Drake because I like another artist?

It’s not one side or the other uce. To go at people because they aren’t ride or die for someone they haven’t met and will never meet? Childish if you ask me.

Hell if you ask me, stan culture is probably one of the worst things to happen to music. Especially on this site. I can’t go on and talk about how much I like a Kendrick album because then half of the Drake section will come at me. Same anytime I express my liking for a song such as Ratchet Happy Birthday there will be people who come at me and say your taste is ass or whatever.

I look at movies and TV the same way. If someone liked The Idol for example, I’m not gonna go at them for it. The Idol is a bad TV show but I’m not gonna ridicule someone over an opinion.

If you’re really that bothered over me casually talking about an album I am very excited for, the block button is on my profile. Have a good night.

My bad. Forgot that dropped in 2015, was thinking 2016. Either way, WATTBA was by his biggest sales week and still is 10 years later.

Alright I appreciate the actual discourse. I used to joke around about forming the 'KenDrakYe' stan alliance when there was tension brewing between Drake and them but I still f***ed with all of their music, so I get it.

I'm not really talking about general support or liking Kendrick's music but to me the specific dichotomy between a) talking about how it's soooo hard how Kendrick looks holding up 5 Grammy's for calling Drake a pedophile and insulting his character & family / friends / fans and b) rolling into Drake threads to talk about excitement for Drake's upcoming album feels hypocritical. I guess it's specifically championing that song and the success coming from it that makes me feel like you're a fake fan regardless of all the other s*** you mentioned. Clearly I'm in the minority here and nobody agrees with me so I'll keep it pushing but it was just super surprising coming from you of all people

I just feel like there's moral code at some point where if you're gonna support Person A's message defaming Person B's character, you can't really claim to also support Person B? Like when it gets to the level of insulting their parents, wishing death, falsely claiming pedophilia to ruin their reputation / image / life. Idk man maybe I'm just petty
