Drake hasn't ever really approached his melodic songs in this style so I see the disconnect
I hear more traditional influence in JMSNDrake has minimal traditional R&B songs to be honest. Like Fire & Desire and Girls Love Beyonce come to mind but what’s on here is definitely more up his alley historically. I get wanting more of that traditional bag it would be nice but what is on here is definitely his bag
