we got sticks in the club illegally

    You have two paths forward.

    1) enjoy the classics. You are a fan who liked the older Drake and that's okay, as you said, you connect with the voice of the past and the engineering behind the albums. This was less 40 than most projects we're used to. You can't blame Drake, you can't blame 40. His health isn't there, and he's built up a whole gang of folks to mix/engineer his stuff, but they aren't 40. This is continuing on the path you're on, accepting that this album isn't for you.

    2) take a week, two, or a month. Maybe it's the time in your life, your energy isn't aligned with what's on this album right now, but that doesn't mean it can't be. Re-visit it in when the season changes, maybe throw it on in the car on a late night drive, or a sunset ride home from work. Something might click again, and you'll connect with what others are hearing. Drake has grown, just like you have, and maybe your energies will realign.

🧘 May you be free from suffering

this is a great post fam thank you

When I read critique on how some folk feel that these songs aren’t as good as their previous collabs, I can see where someone would think this

However, I actually give them credit for making an album that stands on its own separate from anything else they have made, and it makes sense because with Drake x Party they put effort in making sure each song they have done is a distinct sound

    I don’t know man..

Reading “Drake sounds uninspired” is getting tiring. It’s been a critique since Views so what’s really going on? He hasn’t done an backflip on a beat in 8 years? Abstract scales like “uninspired” or “pretentious” are just buzzword criticisms that get tossed around in music discourse where people feel like they have a high ground without needing to actually explain.

People literally say the same thing every Drake release. As if FATD, HN, Her Loss, and this sound ANYTHING a like. How you can drop 4 very different bodies of work in a short period of time and still get called "uninspired" is truly beyond me.

yeah well I don’t think he’s uninspired they’ve been peddling that since views,

I think drake explains this well on the same joint he did on that SH3 joints where he says he can’t make the work they want him to over and over again, people get lost in nostalgia

It’s mostly coming from the people who nitpick everything, post views we got a whole bunch of inspired work
