This is only accurate to the beginning of Drake's career when he first came into Hip Hop. Since around 2015-ish, Drake has been doing exactly what the people want. Chasing whatever popular genres, production, or rapping styles are hot. Losing whatever artistic integrity he used to have. Drake hasn't been "exceptional" or "innovative" for more than half of his career now

great now post a rapper who has an album as left field as honestly nevermind in the past 10 years

  • Nah he definitely should of taken that break lol.

I said it in the PND collab thread, it doesn't matter how good whatever he drops is, it's gonna get s***ted on. This the best thing he dropped post beef and somehow it's the most hate I seen any of the other tracks get

  • His whole career he has never done what "the people" said they wanted him to do, he always does the contrarian thing that people complain about

This actually describes ye perfectly, but even he knows when to take a break and let the people miss him and the benefit it has with public perception

Nothing innovative about terrible singing over house beats
And doesn't that go against your whole post's point since it's Drake's worse performing album in his whole career?

You’re forgetting the music quality part of a thing

Apart from few glimpses of greatness here and there, his stuff from Scorpion onwards been cookie cutter and corny once he started doing the mafioso thing

Maybe to you and if that's the case then deal with it.

Drake has stayed on top because he’s fed the people with slap after slap for 15 years straight - all the people saying he absolutely needed to take a break after every single release were dead wrong. They failed to account for how fickle people are and how short their attention spans are. Look at someone like Chance, who went the other way and took too many breaks that were all too long. Nobody even knows who he is anymore.

Interestingly enough, I don't think Drake taking no days off is because he's scared of falling off like some people think. Dude just likes to work. Always has. It's also very smart of him because he signed 4 record deals in 10 years due to his work ethic. Meanwhile, you've got some artists dropping 2 albums in 10-12 years while still being stuck in s***ty deals.

I can deal with that as i don't even give much f*** about it

Just a note that when people like on KTT discuss Drake musical output and talk about him falling off etc, him pushing hella sales and streaming numbers is not exactly a relevant argument because his pop crossover appeal and just general recognition he built over the years just keeps being there - no s***, average person will still have a song or two on a playlist. The "falling off" talks are more about his relevance for more diehard rap listeners
