After listening to Drake’s songs and features from 2019 to now in addition to the new snippets, I think we’re about to witness Drake’s best work. He’s done everything you could possibly imagine for a rap artist in his first ten years, all that is left is to put the icing on the cake. The information surrounding his next album has also confirmed this. Him talking about wanting to be more disciplined in regards to his approach for the album, the comparisons to Take Care and Nothing Was the Same, the Gold Roses verse. It all points to him focusing on making more intricate and complex albums. I’m not saying they’re gonna be as dense as To Pimp A Butterfly is but I expect more depth. I’m thinking Take Care/Nothing Was the Same esque lyrically and thematically but more sonically in line with Views.

I see this next chapter similar to where Jay was at when he was making The Black Album.

    What y’all think?

I think his next one will be his best one since NWTS and I’ve loved everything he’s dropped since

Agreed. It’s gonna be super dope cause I can tell he’s really trying to make a classic album. Everything just sounds so refined and detailed these days. Even the more simple s*** like No Guidance and Money in the Grave.

The pieces are starting to align
If he does drop something over 17 songs and it’s not up par, I’d be surprised at this point given the things he’s been saying about this next album
I think Drake albums do great when word of mouth spreads that they’re good, see: IYRTITL. And he can still get sales if he wishes through bundles and OVO store drops.
I would imagine streaming numbers could be comparable on a 15 song project with something like Scorpion if people believe it to be quality all the way through. Don’t think people were really streaming Side B by like the 4th day after Scorpion dropped.

Yes, very true. I feel like part of the reason Scorpion gets a lot of hate is because people listen to it as one entire album when I don’t think it’s meant to be played that way. Because if we’re being real, Side A is one of the best hip-hop/rap albums of 2018. Any other rapper releases that and they’re getting critically acclaimed. And Side B as it’s own album is very good with some great spots (Jaded, Nice for What, In My Feelings). So if you’re looking at it from that perspective, you’d probably understand the albums better instead of trying to listen to 25 songs straight. That’s ridiculous.

Also, it’s numbered 1-12 and then 1-13 for a reason. You’re listening to two albums. Not one whole body of work per se.
