mind you God's Plan was doing 2-3x those numbers
(I do think All Painted will be Drake's return to form tho and prove my own thread wrong lol)
Gods Plan one of the biggest songs of all time, expecting that level every song is straight DELUSION.
This is for sure very impressive, but chart longevity is much more worthwhile than debuts. Let’s see what type of staying power this song has
This song for sure not gonna stick because it’s just not in the structure of a hit song nowadays
It does go to show that no matter what, the general public is always gonna give him a first listen tho
And I'm a fan. It's not just hating.
Exactly. Drake is one of my top 5 all time favorite artists but the way Drake section reacts to half the things I post about him you’d think I hated the dude. They don’t allow for literally any type of criticism against his art

I can agree with that. I said yesterday in another thread that I think Drake will always sell well (first week wise) because of the nature of his music, but he hasn’t had a real lasting chart topping hit since 2018.
Search & Rescue is immensely catchy but it’s a little long and mixed a little oddly, I’m curious to see what kind of staying power it’ll have

He did it multiple times around that time though... One Dance, Hotline Bling, Nice for What, In My Feelings, Sicko Mode.. and more. I never said I expect it every song, my point is he does it waaaay less regularly now
if you can do it once you can do it again

Scorpion alone had 2 other songs that were massive hits, and another that was a pretty sizable hit as well in Nonstop.
I think it’s fair to say that Drake hasn’t had a single hit with any real lasting power since 2018. Rich Flex is probably the biggest one with the most longevity since that year, but even that was nowhere near the size of any of the Scorpion singles, or any of the big singles off of his previous albums
You gotta stop shooting down people’s posts by acting like they don’t matter because it’s just their opinion, then proceed to give your own opinion like it disproves theirs simply because it’s the opposite.
It’s implied that anything anyone posts on this site is an opinion because music is subjective
Thats all it is indeed. Nobody cares

I dont spend my days hating on s*** i dont care for. Move on

It’s not hating, it’s called criticism. We’re fans of Drake, we’re not just gonna d***ride everything we like and shut up for s*** we don’t like. This is a place for discourse about music, whether it’s positive or negative.
Artists don’t get better by just having yes men around them that d***ride everything they make
Drake is in my top 3 most listened to artists every single year and this dude thinks I’m a hater
Great artists take criticism and use it to better their art. Drake has done that several times throughout his career, but his fans think it’s hating

All those songs had a massive push and were treated like legit singles.
This is a loosie that was thrown onto streaming. Comparing the two is idiotic

Good thing Drake doesn’t listen to you bozos. His career would have flamed out years ago

Jimmy Cooks and Wait For You did great

You’re comparing this to probably the most popular song he’s ever released 😭
Good thing Drake doesn’t listen to you bozos. His career would have flamed out years ago
Him listening to criticism is what directly led to Her Loss idiot.
Not to mention all of the other numerous times throughout his career he’s listened to criticism and used it to make himself better but you morons are too stupid to realize it

When he has he adjusted to criticism? I’ve always felt drake marches to his own drum. The only time I felt he directly adjusted to criticism was following up hnvm with an album like her loss. I woukdnt say it’s something he regularly does

The eras are completely different. Streaming as a whole dipped way low across the board throughout the pandemic and it hasn’t really fully recovered in general.
I’m not sure what places you are going to. But I’ve heard Rich Flex and Jumbotron at the every outing I’ve been to. You tried to pull a “who’s still listening to that?” And this quite possibly the worst album to try that lmaooo.
Critically acclaimed meaning it’s his most positive reviewed album since pre-Views
His most positively reviewed projects since pre-Views are More Life and HNVM actually. Her Loss was kind of panned by some outlets over some of the disses but general audiences and rap fans loved it.
Drake haters are more obsessed with him than his actual fans.
Hating on an artist and still checking out every oh his moves and tracks a decade on sounds nuts to me.
Opinions over statistics of course.
