Anyone else really intrigued by drakes songwriting process? I've always wonder about what he studied that helped him get to this point. He really never misses when it comes to a hook. I think he studies melodic structures in his free time or something

Great example of an AAB structure melody, he also really understands cadences and melodic intervals and makes everything sound very catchy

It could well possibly be trail & error and "studying" through the sheer amounts of practice & hours overall

You either have it in you or don't - you can't study that

It's gotta be some sixth sense to know on what would hit or not at some point because you gotta think about it, all the hours mixing and editing on the same song would tire you out and you would start to question said song like is it really any good?

Sometimes it's not that big of a deal neither, that's why they big they can just tell what's hot or not

Drake put in his 10,000 hours thats why he knows what Melodies are crack. He’s said before that finding the right 2 or 3 words that fit perfectly feels better to him than sex. Tells you how fulfilling it is for him when you love doing it, it doesn’t feel like work. A good portion of his life has been spent in the studio. He probably learned a thing or two from people he’s worked with/ influences as well

50 Cent kinda does something similar he’ll make 3 hooks and choose the best one and then place the other two on other parts of the song like the bridge.
