So much mid.
I don't understand how someone with so much access to the best producers/writers in the world can turn into something so... average.
Don't get me wrong there's some good s*** on here but its nothing to get excited about. I'm sure there's girls out there who could make something similar without spending thousands.

Bro thatās what Iām saying
Album sounds too safe
Why did this even get that much attention with the singles from indieheads and poptimists? Other than that one cool single her other stuff is H&M music
thats a fact, lets be real we all know what demographic is gonna think this is a masterpiece
All bow down before the newly crowned Queen of Pop
I am a die-hard Lady Gaga fan. I have been since 2011, when I firmly discovered how awesome pop music was to me, in contrast to how abrasive hip-hop sounded. I would only listen to music that sparkled, that could put an image in my mind, whose soundscape was evocative of the life I dreamed of living. Within Gaga's music, I found paradise. As it turned out, I was just really gay.
It also turned out that her music, and pop music in general, f***ing ruled at that time, circa 2009-2012. I couldn't wait to see what would be in store for the years to come.
Alas, there was the disappointment of the still enjoyable ARTPOP, followed by the bewildering choice of country/folk inspiration for the still not-too-bad Joanne, followed by the semi-outright vapid saccharine sludge of the soundtrack to A Star is Born. It seemed that Gaga had no choice but to go back to her dance pop roots and show the world what innovative pop music was.
She chose to sell out. "Stupid Love" is a cheesy over-produced somewhat groovy mess. It would seem that there would be no one to keep pop music alive as a chart-topping art form. It seemed that no one would create a stunning blockbuster pop record. But someone did.
Dua Lipa first caught my eye in 2016, when "Hotter than Hell" was climbing the UK charts, which have always been superior for pop music's success, and the house-inspired track caught my eye, as did the catchy "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)" The rollout for her debut self titled was very messy (six singles before it dropped), but when it did drop in June 2017, I was pleasantly surprised, especially by the tracks "Lost in Your Light" and "New Rules", the latter of which became an international mega-hit, including stateside. The former, a duet with R&B swooner Miguel, was the winner in the quality department, a nu-disco track where the chemistry between the vocals was seamless.
Nu-disco...hm....
Whether inspired directly by that track, or possibly by the Initial Talk remixes of New Rules and IDGAF, or most likely through sheer artistic vision, Dua thought "Fuck it, I'm a disco diva now."
Future Nostalgia is phenomenal, to put it lightly. The title track and opener serves as Dua's proof of gaining a character, a unique personality, which lacked on her debut. "I know you ain't used to a female alpha" she says lightly, but with command. Lead single "Don't Start Now" takes it up several more notches, with strings flying above bass lines restraining themselves, before exploding into pure bliss for the final chorus. "Physical" is almost ABBA-like, with background chants and a campiness to it. The record really picks up with "Levitating", whose chorus reminds me of something Chic would've done in their heyday. "Hallucinate " is equally magical, if not more, with Dua's airy "IIIII" vocals reminding me ever so slightly of Donna Summer's eternal classic "I Feel Love". The album hits a peak, however, with "Love Again", which manages together house violins, R&B acoustic guitar, and a disco wraparound to make it the best pop song in years. The following track, "Break My Heart" is almost equally breathtaking.
This is not to say there are not flaws. The closing two tracks, "Good in Bed" and "Boys Will be Boys" are rather mediocre, the former is a cheesy singalong while the latter is a completely out of place "feminist" ballad. But by this point, the album has proven its point.
I am not at all doubtful that Dua Lipa is the new Queen of Pop. She has resurrected pop from tropical chill into dancefloor filling funk, and all the while had enormous chart success. As of this writing, "Don't Start Now" is at the number two position in the USA, a fantastical feat in the trap-rap era. While I still essentially worship Gaga, her time of critical and cultural impact is slipping, and it is important to not pit her against anyone, but rather welcome the future of artists to succeed
With Dua Lipa as captain, what a bright future it will be.

Top 2 this year.
This sound just works for her, damn near everything is extremely catchy earworms & well produced. Love the disco influence and itās so cohesive. Great dance centric album.
Not really feeling the last 2 songs much but they arenāt bad.
Dua delivered.
just listened and man
u ain't lie AT ALL b
ppl itt capping HARD this album is genuinely an amazing pop record and very much met my expectations. Seems like that's the general consensus among other popheads and critics as well lol, this forum just generally isn't the crowd for this type of music (up beat disco pop)
the last track kinda sucks though, not even the concept, just the execution of it, I fw the second the last track though (not as amazing as the other 9 tracks but oh well) unlike others itt

The artist's stunning second record tackles sex, inequality and empowerment. And all with a little disco shimmy. 5/5
The singerās highly anticipated sophomore album is reinventing disco for a new decade ā and we canāt get enough. 5/5
On her second album, which will be released on Friday, Dua Lipa finds the sound that Lady Gaga has been chasing for years. Delivering bonafide pop bangers that are as sexy as they are abstract, Future Nostalgia is what would happen if St Vincent, Gloria Gaynor and Scissor Sisters broke the laws of science and teamed up to make a timeless pop record. 5/5
In times of increasing uncertainty and worry, we could all use a little something to uplift us - and Dua Lipa has stepped up to the plate. Releasing hotly-anticipated second album āFuture Nostalgiaā a week early due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, she took to Instagram to explain her reasoning: āI hope it brings you some happiness, and I hope it makes you smile, and I hope it makes you dance. I hope I make you proud.ā And, well, āFuture Nostalgiaā delivers on this and then some. A sassy and euphoric offering, āFuture Nostalgiaā sees the superstar embracing her firm position amongst the pop greats. 5/5
Dua Lipa pulls from the past and pushes back to the future on her status-cementing second album. 9/10
In the middle of a lockdown, with nightclubs closed, tours cancelled, venues shuttered, gyms barred and even Zumba classes in your local church hall suspended for public safety reasons, Britainās brightest pop star has rush-released a set of super-sleek, ultra-shiny, streamlined dancefloor bangers. 4/5
When Dua Lipa decided to name her sophomore effort Future Nostalgia, she couldnāt have fathomed that the album would be released in the midst of a socially and economically devastating global pandemic. Itās unlikely that future generations will look back on 2020 with wistful nostalgia. Fortunately for us, Future Nostalgia leans into the latter half of its oxymoronic title, offering a well-timed escape hatch to pop musicās past. 4/5
pls link any others itt so I can add them to op
levitating and love again are so amazing
if you liked the singles idk why you'd dislike the album, aside from the last 2 tracks I suppose, it's extremely consistent in it's sound (that being disco pop) and in general just a really cohesive album.
I guess the biggest complaint you could give this is album is that it's derivative of those older sounds in disco pop?
